A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING
AND ENCOURAGING THE USE OF PROACTIVE
CODE ENFORCEMENT; REPEALING ALL
RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City Council to promote, protect and improve
the health, safety, welfare and to safeguard property values of the citizens of the city by
providing an equitable, expeditious, effective and inexpensive method of enforcing the
various codes of the city; and
WHEREAS, Article XXVII (Code Compliance Process) gives authority to Code
Compliance Officers to investigate complaints of violations of city codes and to initiate
enforcement proceedings relative thereto; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires for Code Compliance Officers to utilize a
more proactive method of investigating violations of city codes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Edgewater, Florida:
Section 1. The City Council hereby supports and encourages the use of proactive
measures by Code Compliance Officers to investigate violations of city codes and the
initiation of enforcement proceedings.
Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
