956ORDINANCE NO. 956 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, TO PROVIDE FOR, BY ADDING CHARTER SECTION 59-A, EDGEWATER VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY RESCUE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFORE. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTIO14 1. The Charter of the City of Edgewater, Florida is hereby amended by the addition of Charter Section 59-A which shall read as follows: There shall be an Edgewater Volunteer Emergency Rescue force within the City of Edgewater, Florida. Said organization shall be strictly a voluntary non-profit organization. The force shall consist of a president of said organization, and as many subordinate officers and personnel as the City Council shall, by resolution, determine. The President shall have exclusive control of the stationing and transfer of all officers and personnel of the force subject to such rules and regulations as may be prescribed by the City Council or by Ordinance of the City or the by-laws of said organization as ratified -by the City Council. In case of riot, conflagration, disaster or like emergency, the Mayor may appoint additional personnel for temporary service. The President shall have the right to suspend any member of the force because of incompetency, neglect of duty, drunkenness, failure to obey orders given by the proper authority or for any other just and reasonable cause. Said right to suspend shall be subject to any regulation prescribed by the City Council or by the by-laws of said organization as ratified by the City Council. SECTION 2. That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances and all Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council and approval by the Mayor at second reading. SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise this Ordinance as required by law.
