80-O-79ORDINANCE NO. PO-0-71 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3-7(c)(8) OF ORDINANCE NO. 79-0-25 PERTAINING TO THE REGU- LATION OF POLITICAL SIGNS IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AS REQUIRED BY LAW AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That Section 3-7(c)(8) of Ordinance No. 79-0-25 which presently .reads as follows: SECTION 3-7(c)(8) Political campaign signs. Political campaign signs shall be permitted as temporary signs, and as such, shall be removed within ten (10) days after the advertised candidate has been finally elected or de- feated or the advertised issue finally decided. The dis- play area of political campaign signs shall not be in- cluded in computing the maximum allowable display area for signs permitted on a premises. A sign permit cover- ing the maximum of fifty (50) identical such signs may be issued, and the fee for any permit for political signs shall be twenty cents (20) for each such sign of four (4) square feet or less, and fifty cents (50) for each such sign of four (4) square feet or less, and fifty cents (50) for each such sign of more than four (4) square feet of display area. A flat fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) will be charged where a cash bond of one hundred dollars ($100.00) ensuring the removal of all signs is posted with the issuing official. Political campaign signs shall be allowed only as follows: (A) In residential zoning districts no more than one (1) nonilluminated sign not exceeding four (4) square feet of display area per premises shall be permitted. Each such sign shall be set back a minimum of fifteen (15) feet from any public right-of-way. No such sign may be erected without the express consent of the owner of the property. (B) In all other zoning districts no more than two (2) nonilluminated signs per premises, not exceeding a total display area of twenty-four (24) square feet of display area shall be permitted. Each sign shall be set back a minimum of fifteen (15) feet from any public right- of-way. No such sign shall be erected without the written consent of the owner of the property. is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 3-7(c)(8) Political campaigan signs. Political campaign signs shall be permitted s temporary signs, and as such, shallbe removed within ten (10) days after the advertised candidate has been finally elected or defeated or the advertised issue finally decided. SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon ' its adoption by the City Council and approval as provided by law. SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise this Ordinance as required by law. The first reading of the above Ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edggew/at_,er, Florida at the Regular meeting of said Council held on the o�7" tEy of November, 1980, and approved as provided by law. The second reading of said Ordinance to be at a meeting of the City Council to be held on the �- day of 1980.
