80-O-61ORDINANCE NO. '?(3 - Q - 6 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR ABSENCE FROM REGULAR COUNCIL MEETINGS; PROVIDINC FOR CODIFICATION OF THIS ORDIN- ANCE AS SECTION 2-34 OF THE EDGEWATER CODE OF ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS IN CON- FLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE BY TITLE ONLY; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. Absence from three (3) consecutive regular meet- ings of the Edgewater City Council shall automatically operate to vacate the seat of a Council member unless leave of absence is first granted by a majority vote of the Council, or unless such absence is excused by the City Council by Resolution,duly enacted, setting forth the fact of such excuse. In addition, the City Council shall, in its discretion, approve or disapprove the granting of pay and other City benefits to the absent Council member. SECTION 2. That this Ordinance shall be codified as Section 2-34 of the Edgewater Code of Ordinances. SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are specifically repealed. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be published by title only at least one (1) time in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Edgewater, which said publication shall not be less than seven (7) days prior to final passage of this Ordinance. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its final passage as provided by law. The first reading of the above Ordinance was read in full and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at the Regular meeting of said Council held on the as0 day of June, 1980, and approved as provided by law. The second reading of said Ordinance to be at a meeting of the City Council to be held on the day o 1980.
