AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING AN INCREASE IN THE BUILDING PERMIT
FEE ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF ALL NEW RESIDENCES AND COM-
MERCIAL BUILDINGS IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA,
IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A MORE ADEQUATE STREET LIGHTING
SYSTEM; SETTING FORTH THE METHOD OF IMPOSING SAID FEE
AND PROVIDING FOR ITS COLLECTION; SETTING UP A SEPARATE
ACCOUNT FOR THE DEPOSIT OF ALL FEES COLLECTED AND
RESTRICTING THE USE OF SAID FUNDS; SETTING FORTH A
PROCEDURE FOR THE UTILIZATION OF SAID FUNDS FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PROVIDING ADEQUATE STREET LIGHTING; REPEAL-
ING ALL ORDINANCES OR RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. PURPOSE.
It is the purpose of this Ordinance to provide a more adequate
streel lighting system for the safety and welfare of the citizens
of the City of Edgewater, Florida.
SECTION 2. METHOD OF PROVIDING A MORE ADEQUATE STREET
LIGHTING SYSTEM.
Subsequent to the effective date ofr this Ordinance, th re

is imposed an additional fee of $1.00 per.�_�e foot on a 1 new
residences and new commercial buildings constructed within the
City of Edgewater, Florida. This fee shall be collected by the
City of Edgewater at the time of issuance of a building permit
for the contemplated construction by the Edgewater building
official.
SECTION 3. ESTABLISHMENT OF A SEPARATE ACCOUNT FOR THE
DEPOSIT OF ALL FEES COLLECTED.
The City Clerk shall set up a separate interest -bearing
account in a financial institution to be designated by the City
Council and shall deposit all fees collected as set forth in
Section 2 above in said account. No other monies collected by
the City shall be co -mingled with the funds in this account.
This account shall be designated as the "Street Light Improvement
Account." The monies so deposited in this account shall be
used solely for the improvement and maintenance of the street
lighting system in the City of Edgewater, Florida.

SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall periodically recommend to
the City Council of the City of Edgewater the best utilization
of the available funds in the Street Light Improvement Account.
This recommendation shall be based on the advice of both the
Chief of Police and City Engineer as to the need for more adequate
street lighting in a particular district in the City of Edgewater.
The City Clerk, in his recommendation, shall certify that the
necessary funds are available in the Street Light Improvement
Account for the contemplated improvement. After receiving any
recommendation from the City Clerk, the City Council shall act
on said recommendation, taking into account the advice of the
Chief of Police and the City Engineer. The City Council shall
be the sole authority regarding the utilization of funds in the
Street Light Improvement Account.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances and
all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be
and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption by the City Council and approval as provided
by law.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk is hereby directed to advertise
this Ordinance as required by law.
The first reading of the above Ordinance is read in full
and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida,
at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
day of 1979, and approved as provided by lllaw.
