CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA
SPECIAL MEETING HELD
AUGUST 20, 1975
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater
was called to order at 7:00 P.M., August 20, 1975, by Mayor
David C. Severance.

Mayor Severance explained that the purpose for this special
meeting is to discuss the vacancy of the City Judge of the
City of Edgewater. He also stated that it has been brought
to his attention that we have a gentleman in our employ presently
who has a law degree and is available to serve in this capacity.
Mayor Severance stated that the Property Manager, Mr. Tucker,
is the man he is speaking of.
Mayor Severance stated that at one time there was a question
that since Mr. Tucker is already a City employee can he be
hired for another specific job. He stated that at one time
it was explained that if an individual is hired under a contract
this could be done. Mayor Severance asked the City Attorney if
this is correct.
City Attorney Weaver stated that there is no problem, this would
be done by Resolution. He also stated that this could be checked
out with the Department of Labor by a phone call.
Mayor Severance stated that the salary for this position will be
$2,500.00 a year.
Councilman Cairnie stated that there should be some adjustment
in the salary, since Mr. Tucker will not be doing any inventory
work "at the same time that he is holding court.
Councilman Dietz stated that we promised the people when we hired
Mr. Tucker that he was being hired for a specific job.
Mr. Bryant spoke to the Council in regard to the intennal inventory
control, which Mr. Tucker is going to set up within the City.
Councilman Cairnie made a motion that we hire Mr. Tucker, contingent
upon this being checked out by the Department of Labor, being seconded
by Councilman Lodico. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
Councilman Lodico made a motion to adjourn being seconded by
Councilman Cairnie. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
