The Special Meeting of the City Council was called to order
Monday, September 30, 1974, at 7:30 P.M. in the Community Center

Councilman Clinton duly made a motion to accept the minutes of
the Public Hearing, September 16, 1974, of the Regular Heeting,
September 16, 1974, and of the Special Meeting, Septemher 24,
1974, being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll cAll vote

City Clerk read a letter from .James.~1. ~4ackie,.Tr. resigninr.
from the Zoning & planning Board. Councilman Clinton duly
made a motion to accept this resignation, heing seconded by
Councilman Sikes. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
City Clerk read a letter from W. H. Cairnie resi~ning from the
Library Board. Councilman Sikes duly made a mot1on to accept
this resignation, being seconded by Councilman Bevel. lIpon roll
call vote said motion CARRIED.
Mayor Severance read a letter from Mrs. Baker requesting that her
husband be allowed to park his semi truck on their residential
property a few days out of each month while he is home. Councilman
Bevel duly made a motion to refer this letter to the Zoning and
Planning Board, being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll
call vote said motion CARRIED.
City Clerk read a letter from T. P. Herndon & Co. requesting
permission to put an underground storap,e tank on their property.
Councilman Sikes duly made a motion to refer this letter to the
Zoning and Planning Board, being seconded by Councilman Clinton.
Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.

Mayor Severance read an invitation from the Edgewater ~nrden
Club to the Council, asking them to come to their first meetinp,
October 8th, at 1:00 P.M.
There was some discussion about the semi truck that parks next
to Kirby's Restaurant. The Chief of Police was instructed to
look into this.
Also the Chief of Police was instructed to look into the problem
of the pallets being stacked along the road by Coronado Paint,
ar.d inform the owners o.f the pallets that they will be cited if
the pallets are in the street, because of the danger involved.
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion that the City Manager look
into this matter, being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon
roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
RESOLUTIONS

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING FRED GARLICK FIREHAN OF THE CITv OF
ErGEWATER 1952-1974 AND FOR HIS HANY CONTRIBUTIONS AND "ALliABLE

Ccuncilman Clinton duly made a motion to adopt this Resolution,
being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said

OLD BUSINESS
Councilman Clinton duly made a motion that due to Councilman
Lodico's illness and Councilman Sikes being out of town Thursday,
this week's workshop be changed from Thursday, October 3, to
Wednesday, October 2nd, being seconded by Councilman Bevel.
Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
The Council instructed the City Clerk to have "Congratulations
from the Citizens of Edge\'t'ater" put on the ael for the Pigh School
Annual.
NEW BUSINESS

~1I SCELLANEOUS
A communication was read from the City Manager to the Chief of
Police in regarJ to the police telephone line bein~ kept for
incoming emergency calls.
A communication was read from the Daytona Beach Police Department
in regard to a poli<;e officer who was wounded while attempting to
arrest a burgular, and requesting that any donations tc help this
officer be sent to P.O. Box 6, First National Bank, Ormond Beach,
rlorida.
Mayor Severance stated that the City Manager along with .Toe
Martini and his crews have inspected the dump and that they
have reduced the violations from 44 to 11. This cite has
been approved temporarily, until these remaining violations
have been corrected.
T~e City Manager stated that once these corrections have been
made, and if it is managed properly, the City Dump can possibly
be used for some ten (10) years.
Mayor Severance recommended to the City Manager that he get
together with Joe Martine to arrange a date this fall for a
city-wide clean up of large junk items.
