Althafer commending the Edgewater Volunteer Fire Department on the assistance that they nave him at an accident on 1-95, ~tatinn that Edoewater is fortunate to have so fine of a fire unit. Mayor Severance stated that this is a matter of acknowledgement and a cory of this letter should be passed on to the Fire Derartment so that they can acknowledge this letter. The City Clerk read a letter from Hap Cameron concerninq his request for water and sewer allocations for a Mobile Home Park that is planned in the near future. Upon roll call vote 8~id motion CARRIED. The City Clerk read a letter from Walter C. Linn r~questing the Council to consider the previous request for a street light at the corner of Hart Avenue and Snyder Street, West. Mayor Severance stated that the Council has discussed this at the Workshop Meeting, he suggested that they put it in the street light -2- o o folder and table this until the Councilmen go out and look this area over. Councilman Lodico duly made a motion that this reauest be tabled until the next meeting, being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Unon roll call vote said motion CARRIEO. The City Clerk read a letter from the rriends of the Library expressing their thanks for the donation of (lOC.OO to be used for eXnenses of the Second Folk Art Festival. 'layor Severanc~ stated that the Council will ackno\"ledqe this letter and that they wer~ ~lad to be of assistance. The City Clerk read a letter form the Lihrary Board reminding the Council of their rromise to remove the palm trees in front of the Library. and to nllt in sod and a snrinkler system. The City Cl~rk read a oronosal from Southern Bell, on the new rhone system. Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to table the Southern Bell ~roposal until we get conformation on this new Emergency Telephone Act of 197~, beino seconded by Councilman Clinton. Mr. Sikes has been talking to this gentleman about what the Cities plans are as far as tennis courts and recreational items. He stated that he exnlained to Mr. Cobbet that the City will have to qo out for bids for anvthina that is over $500.00. He stated that we have gone out for bids~ in the past for tennis courts and have the specifications to be a little' stronaer than need be. The City only received one bid on these tennis courts, so we didn't take any action. and we will have to 00 back out for bids aaain. Mr. Cobbet discussed recreation equipment in full with the Council. Mrs. ~lIrphy Questioned about the tennis courts, Mayor Severance discussed this with her. Councilman Sikes introduced Mr. Harris to the Council and the public. t,j r. Mayor Severance stated that he did not have any questions at this time, and he appreciated him coming by and presenting himself to the Council. He stated that it was the intention of the Council to set a date to revie~ the apnlications that have been received, then after reviewinp them we will oet them down to a few that we feel are Qualified and then request them to come in for an interview. He have felt that the first of August would be the dead line for all applications to be in. Mayor Severance stated that the Council has been setting on the matter of the 2 each 4 channel radios for the Police Deoartment for about a year. He explained that recently all over the'State"of Florida about 100% of the Police Derartments have switched to 4 channel radios and we need a total of 4 sets to fullfill our 100X obligation. Mayor Severance stated that the 2 channel radios will be used in other departments. Councilman Clinton duly made a motion that the necessary paper work be generated in Durchasing these two four channel radios for the Police Department, being seconded by Councilman Sikes. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. Mayor Severance then ~ave ~rs. Webber the floor. She stated that she had some questions on the land use map. She stated that Evergreen Street was sunpose to be a 30 foot street and thought that on the mar it was a SO foot street. City ~ttorney Weaver stated that he would check the man tomorrow and if it says a 50 foot street that he would correct it to 30 foot street. Mrs. Wehber asked for a copy of the quick claim deed that was given to Mr. Sedowick. City Attorney ~eaver stated that she could go to the City Clerk and she would Qive her a cony. Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to advertise for bids for the City Barn with bids being returned by August 5, 1974 at 4:30 P.M. beina seconded hy Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. . Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to advertise for bids for a concrete floor of 125 feet x 60 feet, with 4 inche~concrete with steel every 25 foot section, with bids to be returned by ~ugust 5, 1974 at 4:30 P.t.1., being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIFD. ~ayor Severance stated that for a matter of of records he would'like to establish 5 prioritips, for the existing budget and to be carried over to the new budget, if in fact the nrojects can not be accomplished Drior to the end of this budget year. (1) Park & Pier (2) City Barn (3) Recreation (4) Paving (5) City Hall & Police Department Councilman Lodico stated that number (6) should be the garbage trucks. Councilman Clinton duly made a motion that these be the priority list for the remainina budget to be carried over to the new budaet, being seconded by Councilman Sikes. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. Councilman Clinton duly made a motion to advertise the roller for sale, being seconded by Councilman Sikes. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. Councilman Lodico duly made a motion for all outside departments to start w0rk at 7:00 r.M. and finish at 3:30P.~. with a half an hour for lunch, teing seconrled by Councilman Clinton. Mayor Severance stated that he will be qoing to a meeting Thursday with the County Council. The ~ayor of New Smyrna Beach and nak ~ill will go with him and they will present their selves before the County Council, in reaarrls to a lanrl fill in South Volusia. He stated that he wanted to hear the Councils remarks as to the land fill. The Council then discussed the matter. Police Chief George Katez discussed with the Council a few matters in question, that have been taken care of by the Police Department. Mayor Severance stated that he felt that it would cost too much and that it would not be feasible at this time. P,NNOUNCE~1ENTS Mayor Severance stated that there will be a Public Hearing on Garbage and Trash Rates July 18, 1971f at 7:3Q P.~1. in the Community Center.
