2021-R-37 - Non Ad Valorem Assessment - Corrected RESOLUTION 42021-R-37 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; ELECTING TO USE THE UNIFORM METHOD OF COLLECTING NON- AD VALOREM SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS LEVEED WITHIN THE INCORPORATED AREA OF THE CITY; STATING A NEED FOR SUCH LEVY; PROVIDING FOR MAILING; REPEALING RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the City of Edgewater has made the following determinations: I The City is contemplating the imposition of special assessments for the provision of stormwater and fire services. 2. The City intends to use the uniform method for collecting non-ad valorern special assessments for the cost of stormwater, and fire services to property within the incorporated area of the City as authorized by Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, as amended. This method allows said special assessments to be collected annually commencing in November--_4) 2022, in the same manner as provided for ad valorem taxes. 3. The City held a duly advertised public hearing prior to the adoption of this Resolution,' proof of publication of such hearing is attached to and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A". NOW, THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of Edgewater, Florida: Section 1. Commencing with the Fiscal Year beginning on October 1, 2022, and with the tax statement mailed for such Fiscal Year and continuing thereafter until discontinued by the City of Edgcwater intends to use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem assessments authorized pursuant to Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, as amended for collecting non-ad valorem assessments for the cost of providing storrnwater and fire services. Such non-advalorern assessments shall be levied within the incorporated area of the City. Section 2. The City hereby determines that the levy of the assessments is needed to Fund the cost of stormwater, and fire services within the incorporated area of the City. Section 3. Upon adoption. the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution by United States mail to the Florida Department of Revenue, the Volusia county 'Fax Collector and the VOILISia County Property Appraiser by January 10, 2022, 2021-R-37 I Section 4. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith be and the same are ri hereby repealed. section s. This resolution shall take effect upon adoption.
