REGULAR MEETING HELD
APRIL 2, 1973
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Acting Mayor David C. Severance on
Monday April 2, 1973 at 7:30 P.M.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to approve the minutes of the
Regular Meeting held March 19, 1973 and the motion was seconded
by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
Councilman Clinton duly made a motion to approve the minutes of the
Recessed Meeting held March 22, 1973 and the motion was seconded
by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.

Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to pay said bills and accounts,
being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.

Building Official's report for March) 1973
COMMUNICATIONS
City Clerk read a letter from J. L. Griffin in reference to the
drainage planning program. Councilman Bevel duly made a motion
to have this referred to the Zoning and Planning Board, and brought
before the City Council at the earliest convenience. Being seconded
by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.
The City Clerk read a letter from Chief Katez regarding the purchase

necessary for the City of Edgewater to advertise for bids on these,
as the State of Florida has accepted the Motorola bid for this
year. Attorney Weaver informed the Council that we had adopted
County or State bid prices before by passing a resolution
adopting the specific item. Councilman Bevel duly made a motion
to recess this meeting until Tuesday, April 3, 1973 at 5:15 P.M. so
the City Attorney will have time to draw the necessary Resolution
accepting the State bid from Motorola. Said motion being seconded
by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED.

ORDINANCE NO 816 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
EXPENDITURE OF AN AMOUNT GREATER THAN FIVE HUNDRED ($500.00)
DOLLARS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEW POLICE CAR AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver.
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to adopt said Ordinance being
seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to waive the second reading
being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said
motion CARRIED.

ORDINANCE NO 817 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
EXPENDITURE OF AN AMOUNT GREATER THAN FIVE HUNDRED ($500.00)
DOLLARS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REX TANDEM ROLLER AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver.
Coulcilman Clinton duly made a motion to adopt said Ordinance being
seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
Councilman Clinton duly made a motion to waive the second reading
being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
ORDINANCE NO 818 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
EXPENDITURE OF AN AMOUNT GREATER THAN FIVE HUNDRED ($500.00)
DOLLARS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A SET OF AERIAL PHOTOS OF THE CITY OF
EDGEWATER AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver.
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to adopt said Ordinance being
seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
Councilman Clinton duly made a motion to waive the second" reading
being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
ORDINANCE NO 819 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 766,
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY PROVISION IN SAID ORDINANCE AND PROVIDING
A EFFECTIVE DATE THERFOR.
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to adopt said Ordinance being
seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to waive the second reading
being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion
CARRIED.
OLD BUSINESS
Councilman B.eve1 went to see Mr. Moore of Florida
concerning the street lights for Florida Shores.
and Light are out of poles now but they will send
they do get the poles.
Acting Mayor Severance asked the City Attorney had he researched
the traffic light proposal, in reference to the need for advertising
for bids. City Attorney Weaver answered that he had researched
the item and it is legal as it is a professional service and due
to the Department of Transportation citation we must make the
necessary repairs as soon as possible.

situation, as to v/hat corrective measures are being taken to comply
with the Department of Health.
