Severance on Wednesday January 3, 1973 at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Mayor Dana T. Armstrong Councilwoman Marian Crigger Councilman Edward Clinton Councilman David C. Severance Councilman John G. Bevel City Attorney Joseph Weaver City Clerk Cornelia A. Kinsey Deputy City Clerk Elizabeth J. Crouser Police Chief George R. Katez Absent Absent Present Present Present Present Present Present Present Mayor D. Armstrong and Councilwoman M. Crigger where both excused by the City Council. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting held December 18, 1972. The motion was seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. BILLS & ACCOUNTS Councilman Clinton made a motion to pay said bills, except for New Smyrna Beach Edgewater Humane Society. Being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS Certification of Posting COMMUNICATIONS City Clerk read a letter from the Vo1usia Council of Governments regarding purchases of water recharge areas. Acting Mayor Severance stated we have a Resolution later in the meeting regarding this letter. PROCLAMATIONS NONE RESOLUTIONS RESOLUTION NO 454 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION OF THE VOLUSIA COUNTY COUNCIL FOR STATE FUNDS FOR PURCHASE OF A SEGMENT OF THE VOLUSIA COUNTY CENTRAL WATER RECHARGE AREA, AND FURTHER REQUESTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO ALLOCATE SOME OF THE MONEY OBTAINED FROM THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS TO ACQUIRE ENVIRONMENTALLY ENDANGERED LANDS IN THE STATE, TO HELP PURCHASE A PART OF VOLUSIA COUNTY'S CENTRAL RECHARGE AREA, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFORE. The above Resolution was read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver. 1. i . , ~ ~ u u Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to adopt said Resolution, being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. ORDINANCES ORDINANCE NO 804 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION THREE OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 661 PROVIDING FOR THE COMPUTATION OF OVER TIME HOURS WORKED BY PATROLMEN OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFORE. The above Ordinance ,was read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver. Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to adopt said 6rdinance being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. A motion to waive the seconded reading was duly made by Councilman Clinton being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said moton CARRIED. OLD BUSINESS Councilman Bevel asked if the Chief of Police Holiday pay problem had been resolved. City Attorney stated it had been, he is entitled to pay for the Holidays if he works~ NEW BUSINESS Chief Katez asked the City Council to reconsider their motion in taking the police cars to authorized dealers for repairs and take them to qualified mechanic. Councilman Clinton made a motion authorizing the Chief of Police to take the police cars to a qualified mechanic that he has recommended. Being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. Councilman Bevel made a motion to authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids for a 61) gas engine water pump for the shell pit. Being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. Councilman Bevel made a motion to amend the above motion to read bids to be returned by 4:30 P.M. March 5, 1973. Being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. City Clerk read an application from James S. Meek requesting a Business License to start a mail order business. Councilman Clinton made a motion to approve Business License being seconded by Councilman Bevel. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. MISCELLANEOUS ADJOURN OR RECESS There being no further business, Councilman Bevel duly made a motion to adjourn, being seconded by Councilman Clinton. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. 2 .
