RECESSED MEETING HELD

The Recessed Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Mayor Dana T. Armstrong on Monday,
October23, 1972 at 7:30 P.M.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES None
ORDINANCES:
ORDINANCE NO. 787: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE
700. THE SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED
FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING NOVEf.1BER 1,' 1971, AND ENDING OCTOBER 31,1972, TO
THE VARIOUS ITEMS OF THE CITY BUDGET.
The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Joseph
\.J e a v e r .
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance.
Said motion being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED.
A motion to waive the second reading was duly made by Councilman
Wiggins, and seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote,
said motion CARRIED.
Mayor Armstrong appointed Councilman Ganta, Councilman Wiggins and
Councilman Severance to serve as judges for the P.T.A. Halloween
costume contest Saturday, October 28, 1972.
Councilman Ganta duly made a motion to have Councilman David \~iggins
appointed acting Mayor while Mayor Armstrong is out of the State.
Said motion being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED.
Mayor Armstrong notified the Council members to sit in with the
Election Board at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday', October 25, 1972 to certify
Absentee Ballots of the primary election held October 24, 1972.
Mayor Armstrong read a letter from South Dade Utilities, Inc. in-
viting Paul Ream as a representative of the Florida Pollution Control
Association to an Awards dinner. Fee $35.00. City Council agreed
Mr. Ream should go.
Mayor Armstrong asked Councilman Wiggins to represent the City October
26, 1972 Re; meeting with Enviromental Protection Agency for updating
of Sewer Facilities.
Mayor Armstrong announced resignation of Deputy Clerk Viola Freeman
effective November 6, 1972.

The Council discussed that the City of Edgewater hire a girl part
time, by the hour, on a temporary basis.
Mayor Armstrong said we will put John J. Ziers in training as a
patrolman starting November 1, 1972.
Mayor Armstrong announced the next workshop will be Wednesday,
November 1, 1972.
Mayor Armstrong reminded Councilman Wiggins of the joint meeting
with the County Council and The Federal Defense Civil Preparedness
Agency on October 30, 1972 at 10:00 P.M. at Deland.
There being no futher business, Councilman Wiggins duly made a
motion to adjourn, being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon
roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
