Flori~a was called to order by Mayor Dana T. Armstrong on Monday,
October 16, 1972 at 7:30 P.M.

being seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call vote, said motion

The Deputy City Clerk read a Petition for paving Orange Tree Drive.
Mayor Armstrong stated, it should be tabled and put in the file and
given new consideration when we go into the paving program.
Councilman Severance Duly made a motion to table the petition until the
paving program begins, being seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll
call vote, said motion CARRIED.
Deputy City Clerk read a letter from Robert Poland in reference to a
land fill permit. City Attorney Weaver will forward a copy of the
Resolution Np. 432 to Mr. Poland. The resolution states we have no
authority or objection to this fill.
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to acknowledge the request by sending
a copy of the Resolution to him. Geing seconded by Councilwoman Crigger.
Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
PROCLAMATIONS: None
ORDINANCES:
ORDINANCE NO. 779: AN ORDINANCE SETTING A TENTATIVE BUDGET AND
APPROPRIATING REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING NOVEMBER 1, 1972
AND ENDING OCTOBER 31, 1973 TO THE VARIOUS ITH1S OF THE CITY BUDGET.
The above Ordinance being read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver.
Councilwoman Criqger duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance.
Said motion being seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call vote,
said motion CARRIED.

ORDINANCE NO. 784: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 779
TO REFLECT ADDITIONAL ANTICIPATED REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED BY THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING NOVEMBER 1, 1972
AND ENDING OCTOBER 31, 1973 AND APPROPRIATING SAID ADDITIONAL ANTICIPATED
REVENUES TO VARIOUS ITEMS OF THE CITY BUDGET.

Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance.
Being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote, said
motion CARRIED.
ORDINANCE NO. 7R5: AN ORDINANCE TERMINATING CARL GRIFFIN AS
REGULAR PATROLMAN AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
The above Ordinance being read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver.
Councilwoman Crigger duly made a motion to approve, with regret, said
Ordinance. Being seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll. call vote,
said motion CARRIED
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to waive second reading. Being
seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote, said motion
CARRIED.
Councilwoman Crigger stated we should go to a 40 hour week. Kenny Clinton
asked why he was leaving? The Mayor stated it was to further his law
enforcement education and better working conditions.
ORDINANCE NO. 786: AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING AND APPOINTING STEPHAN
KELLY AS REGULAR PATROLMAN FOR THE CITY OF EDGEHATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY,
FLORIDA, SETTING FORTH HIS COMPENSATION FOR SUCH OFFICE, AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.

Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance. Being
seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote, said motion
CARRIED.
Councilman Severance duly made a motion to waive the second reading.
Being seconded by Councilwoman Crigger. Upon roll call vote, said
motion CARRIED.
ORDINANCE NO. 787: AN ORDINANCE VACATING PORTIONS OF THE FOLLOWING
AVENUES:RAILROAD AVENUE BEGINNING AT THE SOUTH LINE OF LOT 35 L NORTH
TO THE NORTH LINE OF LOT 35Z, AND FLAGLER AVENUE BEGINNING AT THE NORTH
SIDE OF THE FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILROAD RIGHT OF WAY NORTH TO THE NORTH
LINE OF LOT 35Z, BOTH LYING IN ASSESSOR'S SUBDIVISION OF G. ALVAREZ
GRANT IN SECTION 52, TOWNSHIP 17 SOUTI1, RANGE 34 EAST AS RECORDED IN
MAP BOOK 3, PAGE 137, PUBLIC RECORDS OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA.
The above Ordinance being read in full by city Attorney Joseph Weaver.
Councilman Ganta duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance. Said
Ordinance died for lack of a second.

Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to accept the flag from Mrs.Stiscoe
for flying over City Hall. Being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon
roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
There was a short discussion about J. Barrow property and lien. Mr. Bevel
asked v/hat was the amount of the lien? Mayor'Armstrong stated $300.00.
Mr. Bevel asked if we could not get more? Mayor Armstrong stated Mr. Barrow
would rather go to court than pay more than S50.00.He will clean his property
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to accept the $50.00. Being seconded
by Councilwoman Crigger. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Jake Lodico wanted to know if the city Barn is on City property or on
County property. Mayor Armstrong stated there had been two survey's and
neither agree. We will have to determine which is correct.
Kenny Clinton wanted to know ~hen the sewer smell..will. stop." '.
Mayor Armstrong stated the chemicals should be here by October 20, 1972.
ADJOURN OR RECESS:
There being no further business, Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion
to recess the meeting until 5:00 P.M. October 19, 1972, beinq seconded
by Councilwoman Crigger. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
