REGULAR MEETING HELD
SEPTEMBER 18, 1972
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Mayor Dana T. Armstrong on Monday,
September 18, 1972 at 7:30 P. M.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Councilman Severance duly made a motion to apporve the minutes of
the meetings held August 30, and September 7, 1972, and motion was
seconded by Councilwoman Crigger Uron roll call vote, said motion
CARRIED ~ifh Councilman Wiggins voting no on the August 30th. minutes.

The City Clerk read a letter from the V.F.W Post # 6180 of Edgewater,
Florida commending David Stackhouse of the Edgewater Police Dept. for
his patrotism and courtesy on Labor Day.

ORDINANCES: None
OLD BUSINESS:
Councilman Severance Duly made a motion to advertise for bids for
a portable radar unit, specifications to be drawn up prior to advertis=
ing. Councilman Wiggins seconded the motion with Mayor Armstrong
voting No.
Councilman Ganta said we must dra\'l up a set of guidelines before the
radar is rut into use. This unit is not to make money for the City.
It is for the purpose of saving lives.
Chief Katez agreed \'lith this. We must have rules so it won't be abused.
Mayor Armstrong asked ~/ho is going to draw specifications so they won't
write out certain companies.
Councilman Severance stated weill have to draw up what we want, it's
the only fair way.
Council\'loman Grigger stated we are not setting a trap for citizens.
If local residents know \'Ie are getting one they \'Iill slow dO\'ln ahead
of time.
Chief Katez stated, I \'/ill see that it is not abused. If it is 11m
not fit to be the Chief of Police.

Cornelia A. Kinsey, City Clerk, opened and read the bid for re-roofing
the Community Center roof. The bids being as follows:
Ocean Side Roofing Inc.
$2,100.00
A certification of funds was read by the City Clerk.
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to authorize the Mayor and
City Clerk to enter into a contract with Ocean Side Roofing, Inc.
Said motion being seconded by Councilman Severance. UDon roll call vote,
said motion CARRIED.
NEH BUSINESS
Mayor Dana T. Armstrong announced the Millage was to be cut to
7 ~1 ill s eve n .
Mayor Armstrong announced Singer Layne Atlantic will be pulling well
#2, Tuesday morning. It has been in 12 years and this is the first
time it will be cleaned. Mayor Armstrong asked everyone to use water
sparingly for the next few days.
Mayor Armstrong announced petitions are available for Zones 2 & 4.
