M. September 7, 1972. The Regular Meeting of the eity Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Mayor Dana T. Armstrong on Thursday, September 7, 1972 at 7:30 P. M. CouncJlman Severance duly made a motion to adopt said Resolution, being seconded by eouncilwoman Crigger. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. RESOLUTION No. 441 A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON OCTOBER 2, 1972, AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA AT 7:30 P. M., FOR THE PURPOSES OF GIVING THE RESIDENTS OF EDGEWATER AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE HEARD CONCERNING THE REQUEST OF MAULE INDUSTRIES, INC. TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING STREETS: RAILROAD AVENUE BEGINNING AT THE SOUTH LINE OF LOT 35L NORTH TO THE NORTH LINE OF LOT 35 Z. ORDINANCES: ORDINANCE NO. 776 AN ORDINANCE TERMINATING ROBERTA M. BOSWELL AS DEPUTY CITY CLERK AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. The above Ordinance being read in full by City Attorney Joseph vJeaver. Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance. Said motion being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. A motion to waive the second reading was duly made by Councilwoman Crigger and seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. ORDINANCE NO. 777 AN ORDINANCE EMPLOYING AND APPOINTING ELIZABETH J. CROUSER AS DEPUTY CITY CLERK FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, SETTING FORTH HER TENURE, SlETTING FORTH HER COMPENSATION" FOR SUCH OFFICE, SETTING FORTH HER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. ORDINANCE NO. 778 AN ORDINANCE EMPLOYING AND APPOINTING VIOLA M. FREEMAN AS DEPUTY CLERK FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, SETTING FORTH HER TENURE, SETTING FORTH HER COMPENSATION FOR SUCH OFFICE, SETTING FORTH HER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. The above Ordinance being read in full by City Attorney Joseph Weaver. Councilman Ganta duly made a motion to approve said Ordinance. Said motion being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. A motion to waive the second reading was duly made by Councilman Wiggins and seconded by Counc ilman Severance. Upon roll call vote said motion CARRIED. OLD BUSINESS Att'y Weaver announced that he talked with Judge Wingfield, will meet next week to go over fazing out of City Court. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Wiggins asked if Mr. LaBonde discussed the Mary Street Property with the Mayor. Mayor Armstrong said it was briefly dis- cussed. Councilman Severance said to have Att'y Weaver look at it and put it on the agenda for workshop 9/14/72 for further discussion. MISCELLANEOUS Councilman Ganta announced there should be restroom facilities at the Park & Pier. Mayor Armstrong said that everything is locked up and people keep coming in and using the restroom in City Hall. Mayor Armstrong suggested the Community Center Restrooms should be open daily in the morning and locked at dark. Councilman Severance duly made a motion to direct the Chief of Police to investigate the type, cost, material etc. of a Portable Radar Unit, and is to be discussed at the next workshop meeting. Motion being seconded by Councilman ~liggins with Mayor Armstrong voting NO. Upon a roll call vote the motion CARRIED with Mayor Armstrong voting No. Mayor Armstrong told the Council to look for a New City Judge by October 1st. because of the continuous harrassment he is taking by telephone from our local people. Att'y Weaver said he has two men in his office, Jack Bolt and Bill Ross and he will check and see if either is interested and let us know first of next week. Att'y Weaver said he will bring Mr. Ross to our next workshop meeting September 14, 1972. Mayor Armstrong announced today is the first day to pick up petitions for Zones 2 and 4, with his best wishes to all. Mayor Armstrong reported they are ready to build dikes on the Island in front of the Park & Pier and then dredge in two months. He also gave Councilman Wiggins a vote of thanks for his sincere interest and patience for his effort to get the boat ramps at 3 ~ ,...' . ,.;"', (..,.) w the Park & Pier underway. Mayor Armstrong announced that there is an election board to appoint. The Council will appoint two each and the Mayor will appoint one. Councilman Wiggins asked when the appointments have to be made, and the Mayor announced three days before primary.
