2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Donna Snow, second by Cecil Selman, to approve the minutes of the
April 4, 2018 Economic Development Board Meeting. The MOTION was APPROVED
unanimously.

3. OLD BUSINESS-PUBLIC HEARING
Donna Snow reached out to Mr. Cuchetti of Cuchetti School of Music or The Indian River Institute
for the Creative Arts, a performing and creative arts school in Edgewater. He supplied a "wish list"
including the need for funding to repair building from last two hurricanes. Mrs. Snow shared the
wish list with the board to review and discuss in the future.
Southeast Volusia School of Science and Technology went before the School Board and was denied
Charter. An updated application will be submitted.
4. NEW BUSINESS - PUBLIC HEARING
a.AR-2018-3349 Review Proposed Budget 2019
Parks & Recreation Director, Samantha Bergeron provided a rough draft of the budget for 2019.
She noted the budget includes additional funds for Chamber sponsorship, because they are taking on
all the responsibility for the Southeast Volusia Marketing Initiative. The budget also includes
additional funds for advertising and promotion. Budget workshops begin in July.

Ms. Bergeron provided information from the Volusia County Chamber Alliance and Volusia County
Economic Development Department who are putting on a Free Business Continuity Planning
Workshop May 22-23, 2018. Though this event is not in Edgewater, it is key information and a great
resource for local businesses, so she asked board members to share this information.
Volusia County Economic Division, Economic Quarterly meeting is coming up and Ms. Bergeron
provided data that they present regarding new construction, building permit information. Edgewater
had over $7,000,000 of permits issued the first quarter of 2018.
The EdgeFest Resource Rodeo was held at Daytona State College Campus. Ms. Bergeron expressed
appreciation to the College for partnering with the City for the event. She also noted what a
beautiful space the College has for holding events.
Ms. Bergeron reported that she is working with realtors for Economic Development. The Tropical
Blossom property at 100 Ridgewood as well as the 83 acres in Parktowne have been listed with
Barbara Coomber of SVN. A fast food company is looking at the property next to Wells Fargo Bank.
July 11th was proposed as the next meeting date.
5. REPORTS (Board, City, Economic Development Coordinator & Other)
a.AR-2018-3348 CEDs Update
Samantha Bergeron, Economic Development Coordinator made a staff report.
Clarence McCloud reported that Daytona State College's Fiberglass Fabrication Program will start
May 25 to June 1, 2018 at the South Campus. Students will get a set of tools with tuition of $529.
Brandon Beck resigned his position on the Economic Development Board as he is relocating out of
state.
