1. CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
AR-2018-3420 Minutes from the May 2, 2018 Economic Development Board Meeting
A motion was made by Clarence McCloud, second by Debbie Dolbow, to approve minutes
from the May 2, 2018 Economic Development Board Meeting. The MOTION was
APPROVED unanimously.

3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Bob Andrejkovics of 331 Admiralty Court, Edgewater, Florida reported that the SEV Sci/Tech is
going forward with their application with the expectation of having a charter in place by October
and that there are ongoing discussions about housing for linemen.
4. REPORTS (City, Economic Development Coordinator, Board and Other)
Samantha Bergeron, Director of the Parks & Recreation Department and Economic Development
Coordinator provided a staff report. Ms. Bergeron reported attending the Chamber's Tallahassee
Speaker Series to hear Sissy Proctor, Director of the Department of Economic Opportunity.
Interested in infrastructure for water and sewer as well as help with impact fees, Ms. Bergeron
discovered that most programs they have are for rural areas and opportunity zones. In attendance
were elected officials including people from Governor Scott's Office. It was an excellent opportunity
speak briefly about the SEV Marketing Initiative to request Volusia County be included along with
Brevard County, when they are talking about space travel and transportation and aerospace
technology and all the activity that is going on. Ms. Bergeron also reported that at Monday's City

Council meeting, plat plans were approved for a couple of sub-divisions that are going in and that on
Friday, at Daytona State College's Advanced Technology College, there will be a workforce
development program.
Sue Williams of 230 Costa Rica in Edgewater and Director of the Southeast Volusia Chamber of
Commerce reported that the Chamber is bringing the Disney Institute Business of Excellence
Leadership Program to the Brannon Center on September 12, 2018. The Chamber is also organizing
a luncheon at Yacht Club before the August 28th primary for candidates running for seats in
Southeast Volusia. Mrs. Willams also noted that a website is under construction for SEVMI.
Ms. Bergeron presented goals, objectives and projected completion dates for review from CEDS.
The Board agreed to discuss this at the next meeting in August. A Water Quality Panel Discussion,
talking about where to go for funding, will be held Thursday, June 21st at 8:30 a.m. at the Daytona
Beach International Airport for no cost. Edgewater hosted the Bike Florida Event in March and it is
estimated that that the total economic impact for Volusia and Brevard Counties from this event was
over $800,000.
BOARD REPORTS
Mr. McCloud told the Board that Daytona State College has been working diligently to align their
vocational training with the needs of Southeast Volusia. The College has a new workforce training
lab. The first course on fiberglass duct construction completed last Friday. A course on exterior
window, door and skylight installation is coming up followed by three more short term training
programs designed to prepare students for careers in skilled trades. The first Machining course is
about to begin at the New Smyrna Beach/Edgewater campus. Votran and United Way have provided
a funding stream for temporary transportation for those individuals who cannot get to the site.
Todd Perry shared that he is working on planning the upcoming Chamber Classic Golf tournament
in December and is looking for committee members.
5. OLD BUSINESS
AR-2018-3419 Proposed Budget for 2019 Review
Ms. Bergeron discussed last year's Economic Development budget compared to this year's proposed
budget. She noted that the first budget workshop with the Council will be on Monday, June 11 at
6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
A motion was made by Todd Perry, second by Marcia Barnett, to approve the proposed Economic
Development budget. The MOTION was APPROVED unanimously.
6. NEW BUSINESS
a.AR-2018-3418 Economic Development Board - Reappointment recommendation for E. Bliss
Jamison.

A motion was made by Marcia Barnett, second by Clarence McCloud, to recommend Bliss
Jamison to City Council for reappointment to the Economic Development Board. The
