1. CALL TO ORDER
Bliss Jamison, Chair of the Economic Development Board, called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.

3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
AR-2019-4004 Minutes from the January 9, 2019 Economic Development Board Meeting
EDB Meeting Minutes 01-09-2019Attachments:
A motion was made by Donna Snow, second by Marcia Barnett, to approve minutes from the
January 9, 2019 Economic Development Board Meeting. The MOTION was APPROVED
unanimously.
4. REPORTS
a. Economic Development Director Report
Samantha Bergeron reported that the Brilliance assisted living facility project is moving forward
beautifully. The City Council approved a project for 292 acres west of Volco Road with over 700
units to be built in phases. Representatives from Edgewater, Oak Hill, New Smyrna Beach, Volusia
County, Team Volusia and the Chamber of Commerce attended the Space Foundation's space
commerce conference at Embry Riddle and found that broad opportunities exist for component
manufacturers and satellite companies whose pay average around $60,000 annually. Attendees
learned that existing parts and composite manufacturers could broaden their products to provide
components for space commerce.
b. Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce Report
Sue Williams of the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce, reported that the Home Show was a
huge success and was endorsed by Captain Foods and Hatcher Construction as an excellent way to
grow your business. Ms. Williams made note of the Masters of Business award presented to Boston

Whaler for going above and beyond in our community. The Chamber Challenge 5K race will be held
April 4th to promote team building and health consciousness while supporting the community. The
Chamber is hosting a meeting at the Brannon Center on March 20, 2019, starting at 6:00 p.m. to
provide information to the public regarding the proposed ½ cent sales tax. Ms. Bergeron shared
information that has been posted to the City's website regarding the proposed ½ cent sales tax.

Bob Andrejkovics, of 331 Admiralty Court in Edgewater, reported that on April 9th the Sci Tech
charter is due to be approved.
