FEBRUARY 7, 1972
The City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to
order by Mayor Dana T. Armstrong, Monday, February 7, 1972, at
7:30 P.~1.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Councilman Severance duly made a motion to approve the minutes of
the meeting held on January 17, 1972, being seconded by Councilman
Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
Councilman Ganta duly made a motion to accept the Audit Report for
the fiscal year ending October 31, 1971. Said motion was seconded
by Councilwoman Crigger. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.

A motion was duly made by Councilwoman Crigger to pay said bills
and accounts, being seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORTS
Certification of Posting
COMMUNICATIONS
Mayor Armstrong recommended the Council accept the payroll deduction
plan for the United Fund for each employee on a voluntary basis.
Councilman Severance duly made a motion for the City to accept the
payroll deduction plan for United Fund given voluntarily by each
employee. Said motion was seconded by Councilwoman Crigger.
Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
Mayor Armstrong read a letter from Mr. John Gross, Planning Board
Secretary, requesting that the Council authorize the City Attorney
to answer some questions concerning the procedures to be used by
the Planning Board.
Councilman Wiggins asked if this letter was from an individual or
from the Planning Board members.
Mr. Kenny Clinton, member of the Planning Board, stated the letter
was out of order. No one on the Planning Board knew anything
about the letter and it should be brought before the Planning
Board before saying anything to the City Attorney.
Mayor Armstrong turned the letter over to the City Attorney since
the letter was a request from Mr. Gross and not the Planning Board
members. No further action was taken regarding the letter.
OLD BUSINESS
Mayor Armstrong stated according to the audit report for 1971,
the City is in good financial condition.

NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Ganta duly made a motion to grant the exempt occupational
licenses to R.L. Harmon Nursery and Ocean Avenue Nursery. Said
motion seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call vote,
said motion CARRIED.
A motion was duly made by Councilman Severance to grant a dance
studio license to Janet Clinton, being seconded by Councilman
Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
MISCELLANEOUS
Mr. Hanson asked the Council if they could ask the County for a
dump to be located in South East Volusia County since Edgewater
has the only dump in the area and some of the people outside
Edgewater have been dumping trash on the road if they couldn't
get into the dump.
Mayor Armstrong suggested the Council have the City Attorney draw
up a resolution to send to the County asking them to make a study
concerning the need for a dump.
A motion was duly made by Councilman Wiggins to have the City
Attorney draw up a resolution to send to the County asking for
a study regarding a dump for South East Volusia County. Said
motion was seconded by Councilwoman Crigger. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED with Councilman Ganta voting No.
Mr. Paul Wall asked the Mayor to explain the letter which the
Fire Department received from the City concerning fire calls
outside the city limits.
Mayor Armstrong stated whenever the Florida Highway Patrol or
Sheriff's Office calls you to go outside the city limits to a
fire, always leave a backup truck and crew in the City.
Chief Dounhoo stat~whenever one of the policemen get called
out of the City, New Smyrna Beach Police stand by to answer
a call in our City.
Councilwoman Crigger announced the Boy Scout Troop No. 406 has
(lQO) seedling pines which they will plant anywhere in the City
fr'ee' of. charge.
An announcement was made that the Planning Board and Zoning Board
would have their meetings on the following Tuesday night.
There being no further business, Councilman Wiggins moved to
adjourn, being seconded by Councilman Severance. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED.
