The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, was called to order by Mayor William H. Cairnie on Monday,
May 3, 1971, at 7:30 P.M.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion for approval of the minutes
of April 19, 1971 meeting, being seconded by Councilman Fugate.
Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.

A motion was duly made by Councilman Lodico for said bills and
accounts to be paid. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins.
Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.

Certification of Posting
Library Report for April
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter from the Florida Shores Property Owners Association request-
ing street lights be considered for Florida Shores was read by the
City Clerk.
Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to consider the request for
the next budget, being seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll
call vote, said motion CARRIED.
A letter from the County regarding Councilman Wiggins request for
a boat ramp was read by the City Clerk. The letter stated the
County referred the request to the budget file for the next fiscal
year.
Councilman Wiggins stated he would keep in contact with the County
on the request.
ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE NO. 686: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE GRANT-
ING OF A BEER AND WINE LICENSE TO STEVE KOTAKES TO BE USED AT THE
BUSINESS KNOWN AS ROSCOES RESTAURANT LOCATED AT 118 NORTH RIDGE-
WOOD AVENUE, EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA AND HEREBY GIVING
AND GRANTING TO THE SAID STEVE KOTAKES A VARIANCE FROM THE TERMS OF
SECTION 6 OF ORDINANCE NO. 161 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR.
Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to adopt the said Ordinance
being seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote, said
motion CARRIED.
A motion was duly made by Councilman Lodico to waive the second
reading. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon
roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
RESOLUTIONS
RESOLUTION NO. 393: A RESOLUTION HIRING SAMUEL R. BOGER
AS CHIEF OF POLICE FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, SETTING HIS
TENURE AND HIS COMPENSATION, SETTING FORTH THE CONDITION OF HIS
CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to adopt the said Resolution
being seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote, said
motion CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to retain Cheste~ L. Cla~pool
as an independent contractor to read the water meters ln the Clty
and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to exercise a contract.
Said motion was seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED.

MISCELLANEOUS
Councilman Fugate asked how the work on the seawall was coming along.
The City Clerk advised Councilman Fugate that Escoe stated two weeks
ago they would be down in two weeks.
Councilman Lodico thanked the street department for the job they
did paving Riverside Drive and repainting some old stop signs in
the City.
There being no further business, Councilman Wiggins duly made a
motion to adjourn being seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll
call vote, said motion CARRIED.
