Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS Certification of Posting COMMUNICATIONS A letter from the Volusia County Citizens Council, inviting the Mayor and Council to be present at the next meeting, on March 2, at 7:30 P.M. was read by the City Clerk. The City Clerk also read a letter from the Florida Shores Property Owners Association requesting repair and/or replacement of many stop signs in Florida Shores. Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to table the request for further study, being seconded by Councilman Lodico. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. RESOLUTIONS ~ ~ RESOLUTION NO. 390: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR - b AND CITY CLERK TO SIGN ANY AND ALL PAPERS REQUIRED BY r~&-~tll~E~~I~ STATES SQv~nN~cNT AND/9R THE STATE OF FLORIDA REGARDING APPLICATION~ FOR ~EDER~L AND/OR STATE CR^rITS A~D AP~LICATIOH5 P6R NECESSARY PERMITS FOR THE CONTINUED OPERATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF WATJR ~ . POLLUTION SOURCES BY THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,~ ~ ~~~ Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to adopt the said Resolution being seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call vote, .said motion CARRIED. OLD BUSINESS A motion was duly made by Councilman Wiggins that the street light be granted for placement on Park Avenue, plus several other lights, requested by Edgewater Beauty Shop. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Lodico. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. Councilman Lodico duly made a motion for a street light on Riverview Drive also be granted, being seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to engage Briley-Wild and Associates to prepare a report and recommendation for up-dating the Sewer System; authorizing Mayor and City Clerk to sign agreement for the report in amount of $750.00. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. The representative from Briley & Wild was present at the meeting and explained the State's requirement, which is a minimum of 90% filteration and the City now has 80% to 85%. He also explained the $750.00 was for the company making a survey to see how the City can obtain the 90% and the cost involved to obtain the 90%. -2- u o o 'U NEW BUSINESS, cont. A motion was duly by Councilman Fugate for the Librarian, Mrs. Carden, to make a Library report once every three months beginning at the next regular meeting of March 15, 1971. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED with Mayor Cairnie voting Nay and Councilman Ganta Abstaining. Councilman Wigqins reminded the people and the Press of the Special Hearing on March 8, 1971, concerning the increasing of the sewer rates of the Trailer Parks and Courts only. 111 SCELLANEOUS Mr. Henry Gibbs and other members of the Humane Society were present at the Council Meeting to discuss any questions the City had concerning the Humane Society. The Humane Society also explained the functions of the organization and gave each Councilman a paper listing the functions. Mayor Cairnie thanked the Humane Society for coming down and ex- plaining the functions of the organization and thanked them for the good job they were doing in the City. Councilman Lodico reminded everyone of the IlClean Up Dayll on Saturday, March 20, 1971. Councilman Lodico also expressed his appreciation to the boys at the City Barn for a good job they have been doing. An announcement was made that Dr. Malmberg would be at the Fire House on March 6, 1971 to give rabies shots and dog license could be obtained the same time. There being no further business, Councilman Fugate moved for adjournment being seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Time of Adjournment: 8:25 P.M.
