OF o R 0 I NAN C E N O. 2 6 1, A S At~ END E 0 B Y S E C T ION 1. 0 FOR 0 I NAN C E NO. 5 6 0 0 F THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA RELATING TO FENCES AND HEDGES IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; PROHIBITING THE USE OF BARBED WIRE FENCE OR LIKE MATERIAL, AND SETTING FORTH THE ALLOWABLE MAXIMUM HEIGHTS FOR FENCES AND HEDGES, AND SETTING FORTH AN EFFEDTIVE DATE THEREFOR. Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to adopt the said Ordinance and seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. A motion was duly made by Councilman Wiggins to waive the second reading of the above Ordinance, being seconded by Councilman Lodico. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. RESOLUTIONS RESOLUTION NO. 389: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, TO EXECUTE AND EASEMENT OF FIVE (5) FEET IN WIDTH TO THE FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY, A FLORIDA CORPORATION, SAID EASEMENT LYING AND BEING WITH- IN LAND DEEDED TO THE CITY OF EDGEWATER BY VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA IN THAT CERTAIN DEED RECORDED IN OFFICIAL RECORDS BOOK 523, PAGE 289, PUBLIC RECORDS OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE GRANTING AND GIVING OF SAID EASEMENT TO BE A PUBLIC PURPOSE AND IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREFOR. -2- o u o o RESOLUTIONS, cont Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to adopt the said Resolution, being seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call vote, motion CARRIED. NEW BUSINESS Councilman Lodico duly made a motion authorizing the Key Publishing, Incorporation to publish the City Directory for this year. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. Mr. Robert Garick from the Key Publishing, Inc. stated the City would receive 10% of the gross amount which the Company gets from selling advertisements for the directory. The directories will be distributed to the citizens free of charge. Mr. Garick also explained there would be a house to house survey to get the names and addresses of the citizens, which would be no charge to have your name in the directory. Councilman Ganta duly made a motion to cut Twenty Five ($25.00) Dollars a month of the One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars given to the Humane Society until the City receives better service from them. Councilman Ganta stated he had called the Humane Society for some cat traps to catch cats around his house and they never came. Councilman Lodico suggested we call the man who promised to set the traps and see why he did not come. Mr. Dimm addressed the Council stating he had gotten very good service from the Humane Society each time he had called. After a discussion among the citizens and the Council, Councilman Ganta's motion to cut the Humane Society.s budget died for lack of second. Mr. Bebbington asked what was being done to get Engineers for the Sewer system. Councilman Lodico advised Mr. Bebbington since the City is going to spend several hundred dollars, we felt we should get in touch with several Engineers. The engineers we contacted are coming over to estimate what has to be done. MISCELLANEOUS A motion was duly made by Councilman vliggins to have a public hearing on March 8, 1971, on increasing sewer rates in trailer courts and parks only. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Ganta. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. Mr. Ledbetter asked if the City's consulting engineer would be there. Mr. Ledbetter was informed that the City did not have a consulting engineer for the Sewer Department. The question was brought up of what could be done about the deep water holes behind the school and the cemetery where children play. Councilman Fugate stated the school property belonged to the county and the cemetery is private property, therefore the City can not do anything, but we can call the principal of the school and advise him of the problem. -3- . I' u o o ----:Of U MISCELLANEOUS, cont Councilman Ganta suggested the City also call the cemetery association. Dave McCallister invited the members of the Council to attend the Planning Board Meeting, Tuesday, February 16, 1971, at 7:30 P.M. A motion was duly made by Councilman Lodico to proclaim March 20, 1971, to be "Clean Up Day" in Edgewater. Said motion \'/aS seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. Dave McCallister asked if contractors in the City could dump trash at the City Dump. Councilman Lodico advised Mr. McCallister that the citizens of Edgewater can dump trash. You can get in touch with Mr. Cutshaw, Road Superintendent and he wil) let you know where to dump the trash. There being no further business, Councilman todico made a motion to adjourn, being seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Time of Adjournment: 8:40 P.M.
