The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida, was called to order by Mayor William H. Cairnie, Monday,
December 21, 1970, at 7:30 P.M.

Present
Councilman Lodico duly made a motion to accept the minutes of the
Regular Meeting of December 7, 1970 with one correction, that the
new mobile home park mentioned in the minutes, be mentioned by
name, which is Pyramid Mobile Home Park.
The said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll
call vote, said motion CARRIED.

A motion was duly made by Councilman Wiggins to pay the bills,
being seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote, said motion
CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORTS
Certification of Posting
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter from residents on Fern Palm requesting the City pave the
street was read by City Clerk.
Mayor Cairnie suggested the letter be put in the paving file until
the Council discusses the paving of streets.
A letter from Carmen Montesanto filing a claim with the City for
his boat which was destroyed by the City's drag-line operator and
some fruits trees which were also destroyed. Mr. Montesanto
stated the damage amounted to One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars.
Councilman Lodico duly made a motion for this matter of Mr. Montesanto's
be turned over to the City's Insurance, being seconded by Councilman
Ganta. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
A letter from Max Massey requesting the City to investigate the
water overflow and damagincondition on Palmetto Street was read
by the City Clerk.
A motion was duly made by Councilman Fugate to table this request
until next Council meeting. Said motion was seconded by Councilman
Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
A letter from the residents on Thomas Street requesting more lights
in their vicinity for the safety of all residents was also read
by the City Clerk.
Councilman Lodico made a motion that the one light which is there,
to be relocated and another light be added. Said motion was
seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote, said motion
CARRIED.
A letter from Coronado Paint Company asking the City to relocate
the fire hydrant at Ocean Avenue and Old County Road to some same
point in the immediate vicinity since it is a hazard to the hydrant
and to trucks making the turn at the corner.
Councilman Fugate duly made a motion to table the letter until the
next Council meeting, giving Councilman Lodico and the Street
Superintendent, time to study the situation.
Said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote,
said motion CARRIED.
A letter from the Edgewater Zoning Board regarding variance request
of Ross Kotakes was read by the City Clerk.
A motion was duly made by Councilman Fugate for the letter to be
tabled until the next Regular Meeting so the Council can discuss
the matter further at the workshop meeting requesting the presence
of Mr. Kotakes at the meeting.
Said motion was seconded by Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call
vote, said motion CARRIED.

ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE NO. 67t; AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND
ALLOWING BARS IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, TO REMAIN OPEN
FROM 12:01 P.M. ON DECEMBER 24, 1970, UNTIL 2 A.M. ON DECEMBER
25, 1960 AND FROM 12:01 P.M. ON DECEMBER 31, 1970 UNTIL 4 A.M. ON
JANUARY 1, 1971, AND FURTHER ALLOHING THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC
BEVERAGES DURING THESE PERIODS.
The above stated Ordinance was read by the City Attorney Charles
A. Hall.
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to adopt the said Ordinance
being seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote, said
motion CARRIED.
A motion was duly made by Councilman Fugate to waive the second
reading of the said Ordinance. Said motion was seconded by
Councilman Wiggins. Upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED.
RESOLUTIONS
RESOLUTION NO. 380: A RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR
FURNISHING A NEW ROOF ON THE COMMUNITY CENTER BUILDING OF THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA.
Councilman Wiggins duly made a motion to adopt the said Resolution
being seconded by Councilman Lodico. Upon roll call vote, said
motion CARRIED.
The Mayor stated the City found they did no need a new roof on
the Community Center and that the old one only had leaks that
could be repaired.
OLD BUSINESS
Paul Wall suggested someone be reappointed for the Library Board
in Mrs. Shaeffer1s place since she is out of town most of the time
and cannot be present for all of the meetings.
Councilman Fugate stated he had already contacted Mrs. Shaeffer
and she consented to being on the Board, but he would contact her
again and see if she will be willing to have someone take her place.
Mayor Cairnie noted the Library is glvlng a Christmas party for
the children, Tuesday, December 22 in the Community Center Building,
at 1 :30 P.M.
There being no further business, Mayor Cairnie wished everyone a
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, this being our last meeting
in 1970.
Councilman Fugate made a motion to adjourn the meeting being
seconded by Councilman Wiggins.
