Certification of the posting of the following items was read:- l'..:inutes of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held July 15th, 1963 Minutes of the Special Meeting of the City Council held July 31st, 1963 Budget Report for July, 1963 Clerk's Cash Statement for July, 1963 ORDINANCE ORDINANCE NO. 358 INCREASING THE COMPENSATION OF LEROY EDWARD LEWIS AS PATROLMAN WITH THE POLICE DEPAR~T FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOWSIA. COUNTY, FLORIDA; SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEN. SAID INCREASED COMPENSATION IS TO BEGIN; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HERI1kfiTH; AND PROVIDING vmEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT. The above ordinance was read in full by the City Clerk and motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Siller and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the Regular Meeting of the said Council held August 19th, 1963. Hussey Yea Absent Yea Absent Yea Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer this Ordinance be passed on the waiving of the second reading, seconded by Councilman Siller and passed at the Regular Meeting of the said Council held on the 19th day of August, A.D. 1963 and approved as provided by law. The vote of the said Council being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman prury Mayor Hussey Yea Absent Yea Absent Yea . u u u J COMMUNICATIONS A letter was read from Fire Chief Garlick requesting the sum of $35 to attend the Annual Florida Fire Chief's Conference at Lakeland on Thursday, Frida;y' and Saturday. Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer we grant the request of Fire Chief Garlick for $35 to go to the Annual Florida Fire Chief's Conference, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Wiggins, President of the Florida Shores Property Owners Assoc., asking wha~ provisions have.been made in the 1963-64 Budget for Florida Shores as to:- 1. Cleaning of the drainage canals 2. Extension of City Water Lines 3. Extension of street lights and 4. Maintenance and improvements of streets They asked for a reply by letter so that it can be read at their regular Association meeting. Motiori duly made by Councilman Palmateer the request of the Florida Shores Property Owners be granted ~d a letter wri. tten to them, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman prury Mayor Hussey Yea Absent Yea Absent Yea Councilman Siller: The budget that is set is not final. I don't think just three of us should make up the budget. The whole council should be in on it. I don't think we should take any action until the September meeting and until then I don't think we can answer the letter from the Florida Shores Propert;r Owners Assoc. Motion duly made by Councilman Siller we table the letter from the Florida Shores Property Owners Assoc. until the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Palmateer and by vote CARRIED. Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman prury Mayor Hussey Yea Absent Yea Xbsent Yea OLD BUSINESS None G u u .' - NEW BUSINESS Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer the Chief of Police put on duty one of the Auxiliary Policemen to assist at the Conmnmity Center for a period of time on Saturday night while they have dances, for the purpose of keeping order. There have been some boys who have caused some trouble. The motion was seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Absent Yea Absent Yea There being no further business motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer this meeting be recessed until 7:30 P.M. Wednesday September 4th, 1963 since Labor Day is September 2nd, 1963, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED.
