Ordinance for the rate of taxation for all property in the City of Edgewa.ter, Volusia County, Florida for the year 1963 and authorizing the notification of the Millage to the Tax Assessor of Volusia County, 2. To make decision on Fire House bid and direct City Clerk about $700 cashier's check deposited as bond by W. K. Robinson, 3. To accept David ,C. Foreman's resignation and vote on resolution hiring Calvin Lewis Langford. ORDINANCE ORDINANCE NO. 357 PROVIDING FOR THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR ALL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COONTY, FLORIDA FOR THE YEAR 1963, AND, AUTHORIZING THE NOTIFICATION OF THE MILLAGE TO THE TAX ASSESSOR OF ,VOplSIA. COUNTY, FWRIDA. " The above ordinance was read in full by City Clerk O'Connell and motion duly made by Councilman Pa.l1na.teer this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Drury and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florik at the Special Meeting of the said Council held July 31st, 1963. · Roll call vote being as follows:- CounciJJnan Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Pa.l1na.teer Councilman Drury Ma\y"or Hussey Yea Excused Yea Yea Yea Upon motion duly made by CounciJJnan Siller, seconded by Councilman Pallllateer the requirement of reading, said Ordinance upon second reading was waived and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman Drury Mayor Hussey Yea - Excused Yea Yea Yea .. ~ v u lJ II U Motion duly made by CounciJlnan Palmateer this Ordiniulce be passed on the waiving of the second reading, seconded by Councilman Drury and passed at the Special Meeting of the said Council held .on the 31st day of July, A. D. 1963 and approved as provided by law. The vote of said Council being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman Drury Mayor Hussey Yea Excused Yea Yea Yea The City Clerk explained that W. K. Robinson had submitted a bid on the fire house and was the only one that did submit a bid. He had put up a $700 bond. Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer the bond of $700 be refunded to Mr. W. K. Robinson, seconded by Councilman Drury and by vote CARRIED. Foreman submi. tting his resignation as Police Officer effective as of August 1, 1963. - . Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer we accept the resignation of Mr. Foreman with regret. He stated he had been a very good police officer and regretted to see him leave the City, seconded by Councilman Drury and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman Drury Mayor Hussey Yea - Excused Yea Yea Yea The City Clerk statedthat Calvin Lewis Langford had submitted an application for work as police. officer to the Mayor. Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer we accept the application of Calvin Lewis Langford to fill the vacancy left by David C. Foreman, as police officer, seconded by Councilman Drury. Councilman Siller: Has Mr. Langford been investigated on qualifications for police officer? Has he any past experience? Mayor Hussey: I interviewed Mr. Langford and .:he has presented a sworn affiq,avit. Councilman Siller: I have never seen the application and just want to be fair to him. . .,. -u u u , u RESOWTION A RESOIDTION APPOINTING CALVIN IEWIS LANGFORD A PATROlMAN ON THE POLICE FORCE OF THE CITY QF EDGEWA'l'ER, VOWSIA COUNTY, FWRIDA AND SETTING FORTH COMPENSATION FOR. SUCH .OFFICE. . .. The above Resolution was read in full by City Clerk O'Cormell and motion' duly made by Councilman Palmateer the Resolution be passed, seconded by Councilman Drury and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the Special Meeting of the said Council held July 31st, 1963.
