Alarm and Fire Record of the Edgewater Fire Department vas read. Certification of posting the follovling items, b:r the City Clerk, was read: Hinutes of the Regular Meeting of April 15, 1963 Minutes of the Continued Meeting of April 22, 1963 Clerk's Cash Statement for April, 1963 Budget Report for April, 1963 Resolution requesting that the New Charter be presented to 1963 Legislature for passage. CONMUNICATIONS A letter was read from Helen Grayson, Chairman of the Playground Committee, expressing appreciation for the time, talents and materials of many people and companies that helped ,vith the Playground so that it could be done' vuthout any cost of installation to the City of Edgewater. The names were all listed on the letter. The letter also thanked the Garden Club for their $25 donation toward a hedge for the Playground Area. City of Edgewater donated $499.99 toward Playground Equipment. It also asked for approval of the Council that a sand box and a bicycle rack - materials donated by Nat Brown, and a Tiny Tot Slide - donated by John Grafton be installed in playground. It also asked that a water fountain be installed in the Playground for the convenience of the children, ~his is to be done- by the City. . A letter was read from the Edgevater Civic Association stating that many residents of Edgevater have cultivated the practice of leaving empty garbage containers on their front lawns, cluttering street after they have been emptied, often not removing them until the next day. They asked if there wasn't an ordinance concerning this matter and if there isn't, an ordinance should be passed. Motion duly made by Councilman Palmateer that an ad be put in the paper thanking the ones that helped in any way ,dth installing or providing equipment for the playground, seconded by Councilman Seng and by vote CARRIED. BUSINESS Motion duly made by Councilman Pa~ateer that the 11ayor contact the Mosquito Control in regards to what part of the ditch cleaning work they are going to do, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman Drury Hayor Hussey Yea Yea Yea Yea Yea Concerning the letter from the Civic Association about garbage cans, Councilman Siller said he didn't know if our present ordinancemvers that. Attorney Ossinsky read Section #7 of our present Ordinance. He suggested that at our next conference about the Garbage Ordinance we look into this and see if we have to further develop this section of the Ordinance. ~~. Nat Bro~~ said that the Civic Association had written a letter to the City concerning a bus line through Edgerater. The City Clerk said the City never got the letter. }~s. Dorothy Murton said she would see to it that the City got a copy of the letter. IJat Brmm said that the Council ",rill have to do something before May 30, 1963 when this matter comes up at the Florida Railroad & Public Utilities Meeting in Ho:l.ly Hill. CounciLman Siller said he had been at the Civic Association Meeting Thursday night. He said he wasn't quite sure l.n1at they wanted the City to do. If they wanted a franchise we couldn't do that, according to our Charter. -- ~ J V II o <,; v Nat Broi'm said all they vIant is for the City to Sh01'[ they have a need for the bus line and vlant the bus line. Attorney Ossinsky suggested that certain officials of the City be appointed to go to this meeting ort }fuy 30, 1963 concerning the bus line. Motion duly made by Councilman Seng a Resolution be drafted that shows we have a need for a bus line and that this Resolution be made a part of this meeting, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman Drury l-'Iayor Hussey Yea Yea Yea Yea Yea John }mrrocco said that the Fire Department had \~itten a letter to the City stating that they had passed a motion that a letter be sent to the City showing that the Fire Department was in favor of the bus line. Councilman Palmateer said that a bus line vdll be very necessary and eventually there \.dll:_ be a bus line to Cape Canaveral. Motion duly made by Councilman Seng that V~or Hussey and Councilman Palmateer be made a committee of two to go to the meeting in Holly Hill }~ 30, 1963 concerning the bus line, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as follows:- Councilman Siller Councilman Seng Councilman Palmateer Councilman Drury IvI.ayor Hussey Yea' Yea Abstain Yea Abstain Attorney Ossinsky said that if any cit~zens of the City go to testify for the need of a bus line they will have to say it w~ll be used by citizens of Edgewater and also used for light express, that the Greyhound line is inade<Fate, and sho,,[ it is a necessity to the people. They will have to maintain certain schedules and certain rates.
