Mr. Charles Scavardo asked: Why did the City of Edgewater annex
Florida Shores when they knew they couldn't cope with that vast
development? I built in 1957. Mayor Hussey, I understand you
were on the Council then. I received a tax bill for $343. I want
a plain and simple answer.
Mayor Hussey said he had nothing to do with the annexation of Florida
Shores.
Councilman Sang: Florida Shores was taken in by referendum. The People
in Edgewater voted to take it in. When I voted YEA on taking in Florida
Shores, I said I hoped the Florida Shores people understood it would
be many a day until we can take care of it.
Mr. Scavardo asked: Are we being negJ.ected? I was never notified about
the referendum.
Councilman Seng: You have not been neglected by a long shot.
Councilman Seng: You are one of the few people in Florida Shores that
pay that much tax. Mr. Wiggins said that $40,000comes to the City
from Florida Shores. The people that live in Florida Shores are
not paying that money; it is the people with the vacant property that
pay that.
