was called to order by Vayor Dana T. Armstrong at 7:30 P.M. on April 19th, 1965.

OFFICERS nEPOR ~
The Librarian's Report for the month of March, 1965, v~s read.
The Clerk's Cash Statement for the month of March, 1965, was read.
The Budget Report for the month of March, 1965, was read.
The Police Department Report fo~ the month of March, 1965, was read.
The Certification of Posting dated April 6th, 1965, wascread.
Mayor Armstrong expressed his appreciation to the City Clerk and her staff
and all other Department Heads for the above reports.
Cml1-VNICA TIONS
A letter was read from Earl L. Tingle dated April 16th, 1965, requesting
permission to black-top a strip of city property, five feet by one hundred
thirty eight feet, on the north side of Wilkinson Avenue and U. S. #1 at
no expense to the City.
A letter v~s read from Donald J. Goodson, a patrolman for the City of Edge,~ter,
dated April 7th, 1965, submitting his resignation effective at twelve otclock
midnight, Sunday, April 18th, 1965. His reasons for resigning were to
accept employment which will offer periodic advancement and an increase in
salary. He a.lso offered his services as a special police officer whenever
there may be a need.
Notion duly made by Councilman Caimie that Mr. Tingle '5 request to plack-top
a strip of city property on the north side of Wilkinson Avenue and U. S. #1
be granted, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED. The roll call
vote was unanimous with the exception of Councilman Tingle v/ho abstained.
Hayor Armstrong said he was sorry to lose_Hr. Goodson but said he understood
he has taken employment at General Electric in Daytona. He said he has gotten
some papers to sign in behalf of Mr. Goodson and said he V/Ould be glad to
recommend him to anyone. He said he regretted we have to lose him.
Motion duly made by Councilman Cairnie we accept the resignation of
Officer Goodson with regret, seconded by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED.
Councilman Siller said he thought it was a very nice gesture on the part of
Donald Goodson to make himself available as a special police officer if we
should need one.
The roll call vote on motion to accept resignation with regrets was unanimous.
ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE NUMBER 437 TERMINATING SERVICES OF PA'lROIMAN FOR THE CITY OF
EDGEWA'IER, VOIIJSIA COONTY, FLORIDA, AND SETTING FORTH COMPENSATION DUE
FOR SUCH OFFICE TO 'IERMINATION DATE.
The above ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hathas and motion
duly ma.de by Councilman Siller this ordinance be adopted, seconded
by Councilman Tingle and passed by vote of the City Council of the City
of Edgewater, Florida, at the regular meeting of said council held
April 19th, 1965. The roll call vote was unanimous.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Caimie, seconded by Councilman Ridgdill
the requirement of reading Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the
ordinance was ordered put into effect immediately at the Regular Meeting
of the said Council held on the 19th day of April, A.D. 1965, and approved
as provided by law. The roll call vote was unanimous.

RESOWTIONS
RESOIDTmN NUMBER 75 \VHREIN THE CITY CCXJNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEI'lATER,
FLORIDA, DETEIDlINES THE NECESSITY OF GIVING NOTICE OF THE TERMINATION
OF THE AGREEHENT AND SUPPWIENTAL AGREEMENT ENTERED INTO BETWEEN THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND THE CITY OF NElv SI..ffRNA BEACH, FLORIDA,
FOR THE SUPPLYING OF ELECTRICAL POWER UPON THE TERMINATION OF THE TERH
OF SAID AGREEl-tENTS TO THE CITY OF NEW SHYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA.
The above resolution was read in full by Attorney Hathas and motion duly
made by Councilman Siller this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman
Cairnie and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater
at the Regular Meeting of the said council held this 19th day of April,
A.D. 1965. The roll call vote llaS unanimous.

A Proclamation dated April 19th, 1965 was read declaring May 1st, 1965
as LAvI DAY, USA, in the City of Edgewater.

NEVI BUSINESS
A Special vlarranty Deed from Kenneth May was presented to the Council for
their approval.
Mayor Armstrong explained that this deed \-laS for some property that had
not been deeded to the City and the city had already run water lines.
After checking the deed, Councilman Siller noticed a clause of the deed
that he thought the City Attorney should look into before a vote of approval.
Motion duly made by Councilman Cairnie 'l'1e table this"deed from Kenneth l-fay
for further study, seconded by Council1nan Ridgdill and by vote CARRIED.
The council advised the City Attorney look into this matter. The roll call
vote was unanimous.
OPENING OF BIDS ON NEW POUCE CAR
A Certification by the City Clerk was read statinp that only two bids were
received on a New Police Car. They were from the following companies:
Dynamic Dodge, New Snwrna Beach, Florida
Nieburger Chevrolet Co., New Snwrna Beach, Florida
The Certification also stated that there were sufficient funda in the
Police Department to cover the cost of a new police car.
The Bid from Dynamic Dodge, Inc. was $2,513.75
Less used car alloW0nce on 1963

Trade difference ~S13 .75
The Bid from Neiburger Chevrolet Co., was $1,103.54 ~d the 1963 Ford
trade in. If 140 H.P.
is desired add $19 to the

l'"r. Clark, representative from Neiburger Chevrolet Company said this is
a six cylinder engine and not a compact car.

Motion duly made by Councilman Ridgdill we accept the bid from Nieburger
Chevrolet Company on a 1965 Chevelle with 140 H.P. at the cost of $1,122.54,
seconded by Councilman Tingle and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote
'Was unanimous.
Motion duly mad~ by Councilman Siller all other bids be rejected, seconded
by Councilman Cairnie and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was unani.roous.
Mayor Armstrong suggested a motion be made permitting him to correspond with
the Housing and Home Finance Agency regarding the _bill from Attorney Clark
in the amount of $10,000.00. He said Attorney CJ..ark was in favor of going
through this procedure.
Hotion duly ma<ffie by Councilman Tingle the Mayor be instructed to make
any necessary correspondence with the Housing and Home Finance Agency
regarding the bill from Attorney Clark; send a copy of Attorney Clark's
letter; then try and straighten out the whole situation, seconded
by Councilman Siller and by vote CARRIED.
l'ayor Armstrong said no commitments will be made.
The roll. call vote was unanimous 't'n. th the exceptipn of Councilman Ridgdill
'Who abstained.
Motion duly rrade by Councilman Siller the :Hayor be authorized to take any
necessary steps regarding the boat ramps, seconded by Councilman Cairnie
and by vote 6ARRIED. The roll call vote was unanwus.
lvlISCELLANEOOS
Counci1ma.n Ridgdill said he understood the County was going to star t
paving in Florida Shores ldthin the next ten days.
lA..ayor Armstrong said 568 connections have been made to the City Sewer System.
He said there are 40 or 45 days left to oormect in order.. to comply with
the enabling act. He said Mr. IaBonde has done a l'lOnderful job and
the people have been very cooperative. He::;said since everyone has been
very cooperative it 't'dll be possible to release the utility tax in about
18 months and have it put back in the City and then reduce the millage.
He also said when the water extension goes into effect there will be at
least 40 new customers on the water system and with a new tank there ldll
be no chance of running out of water.
The :Hayor said he was proud of the project and proud of the people of Edgevlater.
He said they are breaking all records.
Hr. James Nichols from Florida Shores made some complaints about the roads
in~Florida Shores, schools for the children, 8 inch drop at the railroad,
lack of business in Edgewater, salaries being paid the pOlicemen, the
horsepower of the new police car purchased at this meeting and various
other things.
Councilman Ridgdill said the whole council vlaS world.ng for the betterment
Qf the City and he said with this nel"1 sewer project the council has done
a great deal.
Wrs. Robert l-Taxwell invited all the citizens of Edgewater, especially the 1-Iayor
and Councilmen, to open house at the Library, Tuesday, April 27th, 1965 from
2:00 P.I1. -4:00 P.M. Refreshments will be served.. She said next week is
NATIONAL LIlRARY WEEK.
Hrs. ptelma Hennig thanked the Arnerical Legion Aurilia.ry for sponsoring the
open house and all the help they have been for the Library. She said she
't'1B.nted everyone to come and see our library and see how rnuch improvement
there has been in the last fe't'l years.
Hotion duly made by Councilman Cairnie we now adjourn, seconded by Councilman
Ridgdill and there were no obuecti6ns..
