The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
was called to order by Mayor Dana T. Annstrong on March 1st, 1965 at 7:30 P.M.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held February 15th, 1965
were presented to each Councilman 110r .his approval. Motion duly made by Councilman
Siller these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Tingle
and by vote CAHRmD. The roll call vote was unanimous.

Motion duly made by Councilman Cairme these bills be paid and be made a part
of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Ridgdill and by vote CARRIED. The roll
call vote was unanimous.

OFFICERS REPORTS
The Building Official's Report for the month of February, 1965, was read.
The Certification of Posting dated February 16th, 1965, was read.
Mayor Armstrong expressed his appreciation to the City Clerk and her staff
and the Building Official for the fine reports.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was read from Mrs. Gladys Geranis Harton, dated February 15th, 1965,
thanking the Police Department for the courtesy shown in escorting the
funeral of Mrs. Lydia Geranis from the City Line of Edgewater to the
Cemetery.
ORDINANCES
NONE
RESOLUTIONS
RESOWTION NUMBER 74 APPOINTING A CUSTODIAN FOR THE COMMUNITY CENTER OF THE
CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, AND SETTING THE COMPENSATION FOR SUCH SERVICES.
The above resolution was read in full by Attorney Mathas and motion duly made
by Councilman Cairnie this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Siller
and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
at the regular meeting of the said Council held this 1st day of March,
A.D. 1965. The roll call vote was unanimous.
Mayor Armstrong introduced Mr. Kelsy Strock, the new custodian for the
Community Center.
OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS
Councilman Tingle said that Mr. Wesley Linkovich, who with his wife would
like to re-open the Youth Center, was present at this meeting.
Mayor Armstrong said he would be willing to meet with Mr. Linkovich after this
meeting or tomorrow in the City Hall and discuss the whole matter. He said the
Council is not opposed to re-opening the Youth Center but it lID.lst be under the
supervision of adults.
Councilman Cairnie suggested that Mrs. Thelma Hermig, whods a member of the
Board of Governors, sit in on this meeting.
Mayor Armstrong said that any members of the Board of Governors who wish to
may sit in on this meeting.
In reference to the sewer connections, Mayor Armstrong said General Contractors
and Plumbers who are licensed in this city may put in these connections. The
Mayor also said that each home owner. can put in his own connection if he so desires.
He also said the Sewer ~Plant~ is not complete as of this date and all the
other contractors have completed their work.

Mayor Armstrong asked that all the people in Edgewater take in the garbage
cans after the garbage is picked up. He said it is unsightly to leave it
out on the street.
Councilman Siller asked if there wasn't part of an ordinance that covered this.
Mayor Armstrong said there is a technicality involved there but he did say that
each person is notified on the garbage and water bill to take in. their garbage
cans. He also added that next month will be Clean-Up Month in the City.
Mr. Ho1quist, Connecticut Avenue, said he wrote a letter to the Mayor about
fixing his street.
The Mayor said this was a letter personally addressed to him and he did not
bring it before the council. He said this is routine work and the city will
get to it as soon as possible.
Councilman Siller commended the Fire Department on the wonderful job they
are doing. He said they have had nine fires in the last week and he saw them
at work Saturd~ and they did a wonderful job.
}fayor Armstrong also commended the Fire Department on their good work.
Councilman Cairnie, advised that if you need the fire department you call
Edgewater City Hall and not New SII\)Trna Beach. He said this only causes a
delay and he said it happened this week-end.
l'~or Armstrong said there is someone on duty 24 hours a d~ in the City Hall
to answer the Police and Fire Phones.
MISCEUANEOUS
Motion duly made by Councilman Ridgdi11 we pay the Community Center $26.50
for installation of fan and light in kitchen hood and it come out of
Emergencies and Contingencies, seconded by Councilman Cairnie and by vote
CARRIED. The roll call vot e was unanimous.
There being no further business, motion duly made by Councilman Cairnie we
recess until March 12th, 1965 at 7:30 P.M. to open bids on auxiliary generator,
seconded by Councilman Ridgdi11 and there were no objections.
