PUBLIC HEARING ON VACATING IDA STREET
Acting Mayor Bebbington said this is a short street that runs
from Lake Street to the Shell Pit. There are no houses on the street.
Councilman Cairnie asked if there was another entrance to the shell
pit. Acting Mayor Bebbington said there was.
There were no objections filed with the City Council in reference
to vacating this street.
Motion duly made by Councilman Walls that Ida Street be 9acated,
seconded by Councilman Cairnie and by vote CARRIED. The roll call
vote of those present was unanimous.
PUBLIC HEARING ON WATER AND SEWER LINE EXTENSION IN EDGEWATER ACRES
Acting Mayor Bebbington said Nat Brown is going to build about
ten houses in this area. He has already given us a check
for $2,500.00. $1,500 of this is for connection charges for
Water and Sewer Lines and $1,000 is to be held in escrow for
building permits.
Upon ~ question from Councilman Cairnie. Tom Groover, City Engineer
said the cost of the project is approximately $8.057.50.
Councilman Cairnie said he felt the two inch line should be layed
by the City crews as it will not have to be layed all at once.
Upon a question from the audience as to how many houses will be
served by this extension, Acting Mayor Bebbington said Nat Brown
is building ten homes with space enough to build 20 if he so
desires.
Councilman Walls said Mr. Brown is skipping every other building
site. By extension of the lines we are also getting ourselves in
a position to serve other areas in Edgewater Acres. The~e is an
area where about 50 to 75 homes could be built.
Mr. Tom Groover said this is a very feasible program.
Mr. Adolph LaBonde, Building Official, said Mr. Brown is building
on every other lot and could build on the vacant lots later. But
he is also considering dividing these vacant lots in half
and selling half to each abutting property owner so they have
a bigger lot.
Motion duly made by Councilman Walls we go ahead with the Water
and Sewer Line Extension on Beulah and Ruth Streets in Edgewater
Acres, seconded by Councilman Cairnie and by vote CARRIED. The roll
call vote of those present was unanimous.
There being no further business, motion duly made by Councilman
Walls we now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Cairnie and there
were no objections.
Minutes taken by Marie Robinson.
Time 4:55 P.M.
