The Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
was called ts order by Acting Mayer Jacob Lodico at 7:30 P.M. @n July 18th,
1966.

The minutes of the regular meeting 0f the City Council held July 5th, 1966
were presented to each Councilman for his appr~val. Motion duly made by
Councilman Walls these minutes be approved as submitted, sec~nded by Council-
man Bebbington and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vlllte was unanimGUs.
BIDS FOR LINE EX'lENSION PROGRAM
The City Clerk read a certification of bids turned in to City Hall by 7:30 PM
on July 18th, 1966.
The Bids for the Line Extension were opened. They were as foll0ws:

Motion duly made by Councilman Cairnie that the bids be referred to the City
Engineers for tabulation and study and to report back to the City Council at
their next Ceuncil meeting, seconded by Councilman Walls and by vete carried.
The roll call vote was unanimous.

on July 18th, 1966.

The City Clerk read certification that there were sufficient funds in the

Motion duly made by Councilman Walls we tentatively accept the bid from Watkins
Ford, Inc. pending approval of the specifications, seconded by Councilman
Bebbingten and by vote carried. The roll call vote was unanimous.

COMMUI\TICA TrONS
A letter was read from Kenneth G. May submitting a proposal to sell to the City
of Edgewater fGr $500.00 a parc"el'. of land which is necessary to extend Connecticut
Avenue into Dla County Read.
A letter l~S read from Irma Wilkes, 138 W. Pine Bluff Street, regarding the under-
gr~lnd drainpipe and the rough pavement caused by installing the pipe.
A note of thanks and appreciation ~~5 read from Mrs. Seng for the flowers sent
for the funeral of Mr. Seng, a fermer Councilman.
A m@tion Vias duly made by Councilman Bebbington that we purchase the property
offered for sale by Kenneth May stating that this property was needed by the City
for connection of the sewer lines to the Scheol rather than by an easement, sub-
ject te a clear title and deed, the property to be checked by the City Attorney
and engineers. The motion was seconded by Councilman vlalls and by vote CARRIED.

Acting Mayer Lodico stated the complaint of Irma Wilkes regarding the reugh
pavement would be taken care ef in the next twenty-feur hours, at least the part
across the road. The drainpipe is one we have had trouble with for sometime but
it would have to 1~it for awhile.
Acting Mayer Lodic~acknowledged the note from Mrs. Seng, saying the sending of
flowers was the least we ceuld do. Mr. Seng had served c:m the City C€luncil and
had always been interested in the civic affairs of the City.
ORDINANCE
ORDINANCE NO. 495 AUlliORIZING 'IRANSFER OF $12,000 FROH THE LIBRARY BUILDING FUND
AS SET FORTHIN 'IHE BUD:J.ET ADOP'lED BY ORDINANCE NO. 485 TO 'IHE SPECIAL LIBRARY
BUILDING ACCOUNT.
The above ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hall and metiGn duly made
by Councilman Walls this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Bebbington
and passed by vote ef the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the
regular meeting of said Council held July 18th, 1966. The roll call vote was
unanimous.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Bebbingten, seconded by Councilman Walls the
requirement of reading Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance
was ordered put intG effect immediately at the regular meeti~g of said Council
held July 18th, 1966. The roll call vote was unanimous.
RESOW TIONS
RESOlUTICDN NO. 134 RESETTING DA'IE OF THE SPECIAL CITY ELECTION FOR 'IHE OFFICE
OF MAYOR OF 'IHE CITY OF EDGEWA'IER, FLORIDA, HERETOFORE SET FOR AUGUST 23, 1966.
The above Resolution was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion WIly made by
Councilman Walls this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Bebbington
and passed by vote of the City Council 9f the City of Edgewater, Florida at the
regular meeting of the said Council held on July 18th, 1966. The rGll call vote
was unanimcms.
PROCLAr.1A TION
A PROCLAMATION PROVIDING FOR 'IHE CALLING AND HOLDING OF A SPECIAL EIEC TION AND
A PRll1ARY ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, IN THE CITY OF ED:J.EWA'IER, VOWSIA COONTY FLORIDA.
The above Proclamation was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion duly made
by Councilman Cairnie, seconded by Councilman Walls, that the Proclamation be
adopted. The roll call V<!lte was ~animous.
OLD BUSINESS
A letter Was read by Mr. Strang from Briley, Wild & Associates regarding the letter
of May 27th from Mr. Hunt, Director of East Volusia Mosquito Control. Briley, Wild
& Associates proposed a survey fer the sum of $800.00 in cennection with the drain-
age in the area between U.S. Highway 1 and the F.E.C. Railroad from Marion Avenue
North to the ~abardy Canal. Councilman Walls stated he felt this a reasonable
amount for such a survey but feels that the matter should be tabled for the present
in order to make a further study that would include, not only this year's, but next
year's projects as well. Councilman Walls made a motion to this effect, seconded
by Counci.lman Cairnie. The roll call vete was unanimcms.
Ceuncilman Bebbingten recommended the situation be explained to Mrs. Wilkes regard-
ing the future plans that the City has fer drainage.
NElv BUSINESS
Mr. Siller asked when petitions could be picked up for the election of Mayer. The
City Clerk advised, July 19th.
