04-22-1966 - Special , .~'- -u Q o u SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD APRIL 22ND, 1966 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Acting Mayor Jacob Lodico at 7:30 P.M. on April 22nd, 1966(in the Mayor's Office. Said meeting called by Councilmen Lodico, Walls and Bebb~ngton. PURPOSE To Pass Ordinance terminating services of City Attorney W. D. Jones Deputy City Clerk Marie Robinson Absent Present Present Present Present Present Present ORDINANCES ORDINANCE NUMBER 482 TERMINATING SERVICES OF PRESENT CITY ATTORNEY FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA AND SETTING FORTH COMPENSATION DUE FOR SUCH~FICE TO TERMINATION DATE. The above ordinance was read in full by City Clerk Helen W. Jones and motion duly made by Councilman Bebbington this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Walls and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the special meeting of said Council held April 22nd, 1966. The roll call vote of those present was unanimous with the exception of Councilman Cairnie who voted Nay. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Walls, seconded by Councilman Bebbington the requirement of reading Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the ordinance was ordered put into effect immediately at the special meeting of the said Council held on the 22nd day of April, A.D. 1966 and approved as provided by law. The roll call vote of those present was unanimous, with the exception of Councilman Cairnie who voted Nay. ORDINANCE NUMBER 483 DESIGNATING AND APPOINTING A CITY ATTORNEY FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND SETTING FORTH COMPENSATION FOR SUCH OFFICE. Councilman Cairnie requested a little information on the new Attorney. Charle Hall said he was 31 years old. Born in Ft. Myers, Fla" and woved to New Smyrna Beach when he was five years old. He has his law degree from the University of Florida. He has been in practice for two and a half years with the Firm of Gillespie and Gillespie. He is a partner in the firm. The above ordinance was read in full by City Clerk Helen W. Jones and motion duly made by Councilman Walls this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and passed,'by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the special meeting of said Council held April 22nd, 1966. The roll call vote of those present was unanimous. Acting Mayor Lodico said he made a thorough check on Mr. Hall. He lives at 2305 Saxon Drive in New Smyrna Beach. He is associated with the Firm of Gillespie and Gillespie. ,He took this job on the grounds he would not get involved inrpolitics. He will just advise us if we are right or wrong. There being no further business, motion duly made by Councilman Walls we now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and there were no objections. Minutes taken by Marie Robinson. Time 7:40 P.M. Councilman Lodico: On Page 1 of these minutes Councilman Cairnie asked the qualifications of the new attorney and did not "request a little information on the new Attorney" as stated in the minutes.
