The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
was called to order by Mayor Dana T.Armstrong at 7:30 P.M. on November 1st, 1965.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held October 18th, 1965
and the Minutes of the Recessed Meeting of the City Council held October 20th, 1965
were presented to each Councilman for his approval. Motion duly made by Councilman
Cairnie these minutes stand approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Ridgdill
and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was unanimous with the exception of
Councilman Siller who abstained on the minutes of October 20th, 1965.

OFFICERS ~PORTS
The Librarian Report for the Month of October, 1965, was read.
The Librarian Annual Report - October 1964 - October 1965 - was read.
The Building Official's Report for the Month of October, 1965, was read.
Certification of Posting dated October 20th, 1965, was read.
Mayor Armstrong expressed his appreciation to the City Clerk and her staff,
the Librarian and the Building Official for their reportstspbmitted throughout
the last two years.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was read from C. E. Mosher, The American Legion, Edgewater Post #285,
requesting the City of Edgewater purchase a suitable wreath to decorate
the Veterans Monument in honor of Veterans Day, November ll, 1965. Services
will be held this year, on Sunday November 7th, 1965 at 2:00 P.M. by all the
local veteran'=> organizations jointly.
Motion duly made by Councilman Siller the city purchase a wreath for Veterans
Day, seconded by Councilman Ridgdill and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote
was unanimous.
ORDINANCES

RESOLUTIONS
A petition was read from Ralph B. Miller and Thelma E. Miller, his wife,
petitioning the City to adopt a resolution vacating that part of the Ross
Newell plat or subdivision recorded in Map Book 8, Page 53 which~applies
to Block 2 thereof.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 88 VACATING THAT PART OF ROSS NEWELL SUBDIVISION OF
MENDELL HOMESTEAD AS RECORDED IN MAP BOOK 8, PAGE 53, PUBLIC RECORDS:;
OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, WHICHJDESCRIBES BLOCK 2 THEREOF IN THE CITY
OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, ELORIDA
After a question from Mayor Armstrong, Mr. Ralph Miller said this resolution
would vacate no part of Turgot Avenue.
The above resolution was read in full by City Attorney W. D.Mathas and motion
duly made by Councilman Cairnie this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman
Tingle and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida
at the regular meeting of the said Council held this 1st day of November, A.D.
1965. The roll call vote was unanimous.
Mayor Armstrong said the County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on this.
Abutting property owners will then be given their chance to object ~ they so desire.
PROCLAMATION
Mayor Armstrong signed a Proclamation stating that November 6th and November 7th
will be Poppy Days in the City of Edgewater.
OLD BUSINESS
Councilman Ridgdill and Councilman Siller expressed pleasure as serving 'as
Councilman in their~spective zones for the past two years. They both agreed
it has been a good experience.

l1r. Jack Witten, candidate for the office of Councilman in Zone #3, expressed
his desire to have a referendum for the Citizens of the City of Edgewater
so they can determine whether or not they want to SwitCh from New Snwrna Beach
Electric to Florida Power & Light Co.
Councilman Tingle also agreed a Referendum should be held as was done with
the Water and Sewer Projects.
Councilman Ridgdill said there was a vote in 1957 on the Florida Power & Light
issue. He said this Council is just trying to get what thley voted for 10 years ago.
Mayor Armstrong said he saw no reason to have a referendum unless 40% of the
people now have New Srnwrna Beach Power petition the City to have a referendum
and he said he doubted that would be done.
Mr.y Rohert Maxwell invited the Mayor (whoever he may be after election) to the
Veterans Day Ceremonies on November 7th, 1965.
Motion duly made by Councilman Cairnie we recess this meeting until 10:30 A.M.
on Wednesday, November 3rd, 1965, seconded by Councilman Ridgdill and
by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was unanimous.
