REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
FLORIDA HELD JULY 3rd, 1967.
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was talled to order by Mayor William H. Catrnie at 7:30
P.M. on July 3rd, 1967.

The Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the City Council held June
19th, 1967 and the Minutes of the Special Meeting of the City Council
held June 22nd, 1967 were presented to each councilman for his approval.
Motion was duly made by Councilman Walls that these Minutes stand
approved as submitted, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and by vote
CARRIED. The roll call vote was unanimous.

Motion was duly made by Councilman Walls these bills be paid and be
made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Lodico and by
vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was unanimous.
OFFICERS REPORTS
Certification of Posting dated June 20th, 1967 was read.
Certification of Posting dated June 23rd, 1967 was read.
Police Report for June 1967 was read.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter to Police Chief Herman M. Witmeyer from Sgt. C.P. Nelson,
Detective of the New Smyrna Police Department expressing their
gratitude for cooperation and apprehension of suspect wanted by them
for auto theft in Titusville was read.
Mayor Cairnie stated that letters such as this show our Police Depart-
ment is on the alert and it is always nice to get a letter of praise
occasionally.
ORDINANCES
ORDINANCE NO. 558 AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 307 WHICH
AMENDED SECTION 7(1) OF ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 219 BY PROVIDING AN
EXEMPTION FROM THE TERMS THEREOF FOR WHAT IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS
CAMPERS OR CAMPING TRAILERS.
The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hall and upon
motion duly made by Councilman Walls this Ordinance be adopted,
seconded by Councilman Bebbington and passed by vote of the City
Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the regular meeting of
said Council held July 3rd, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Walls, seconded by Councilman
Bebbington, the requirement of reading Ordinance upon second reading
was waived and the Ordinance ordered put into effect immediately at
the regular meeting of the City Council held July 3rd, 1967. The
roll call vote was unanimous.

ORDINANCE NO. 559 DEFINING DOGS THAT HABITUALLY AND EXCESSIVELY
YELP, HOWL, BARK, OR GROWL SO AS TO UNDULY DISTURB OR DISRUPT THE
PUBLIC PEACE, ORDER AND TRANQUILITY, AND THAT CAUSE UNDUE INCON-
VENIENCE AND ANNOYANCE TO OWNERS OF NEIGHBORING PROPERTY AND
PERSONS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY THERETO, TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES; PRO-
VIDING FOR A METHOD OF NOTICE TO OWNERS OR KEEPERS OF DOGS ALLEGED
TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE; DECLARING IT UNLAWFUL FOR AN OWNER OR
KEEPER OF THE DOGS TO FAIL OR REFUSE TO ABATE THE NUISANCE AFTER
NOTIFICATION TO DO SO; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR OWNERS OR KEEPERS
OF DOGS FOUND TO BE A NUISANCE IN FACT WHO FAIL OR NEGLECT OR
REFUSE TO ABATE THE SAID NUISANCE.
The Above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hall and upon
motion duly made by Councilman Bebbington this Ordinance be adopted,
seconded by Councilman Walls and passed by vote of the City Council
of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the regular meeting of said
Council held July 3rd, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous.

ORDINANCE NO. 560 AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 261 RELATING
TO FENCES AND HEDGES IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA; PROHIBITING
BARBED WIRE FENCE OR LIKE MATERIAL; AND SETTING FORTH MAXIMUM
ALLOWABLE HEIGHT FOR STONE, ROCK OR WOODEN FENCES AND HEDGES.
The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion
duly made by Councilman Lodico this Ordinance be adopted, seconded
by Councilman Walls, ~nd passed by vote of the City Council of the
City of Edgewater, Florida at the regular meeting of the said Council
held July 3rd, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous.
Upon motion duly made by Councilman Walls, seconded by Councilman
Bebbington, the requirement of reading ordinance upon second reading
was waived and the Ordinance ordered put into effect immediately at
the regular meeting of the City Council held July 3rd, 1967. The
roll call vote was unanimous.

MISCELLANEOUS
Nora Gillespie asked when the street leading to the school would be paved.
Mayor Cairnie explained that we had it ready and were waiting on the County
to do the paving.
Councilman Lodico stated that Mr. Galbreath had planned to start it at the
end of June, but the rain was delaying the job.
Mrs. Garthwaite of Silver Ridge wanted to know if Attorney Hall had heard
from Mr. Alexander concerning the removal of the trailer in the entrance
area.
Attorney Hall explained that he had not.

Councilman Lodico stated that a new light will be installed at the
entrance to Silver Ridge within the next two weeks.
Councilman Mosher stated that the Library Board needed another member
from Zone 2 and anyone interested should let him know.
Councilman Lodico wanted again to inform the Edgewater residents of
our Police protection and dispatch service being on duty twenty-four
hours a day.
Mayor Cairnie stated that cards are being printed now with this infor-
mation plus telephone numbers of the fire department and ambulance.
There being no further business, Councilman Walls made a motion that
we adjourn. Councilman Bebbington seconded the motion.
