05-17-1967 - Recessed/Special ~ , , o Q o ~ ~ RECESSED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD MAY 17th, 1967 The Recessed meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida held May 17th, 1967 was called to order by Vice Mayor Jacob Lodico at 7:30 P.M. in the Community Center. ROLL CALL Vice Mayor Jacob Lodico Councilman Paul F. Walls Councilman Philip H. Bebbington City Attorney Charles A. Hall City Clerk Elsie L. Ward Deputy Clerk Patricia A. Spencer Police Chief Herman M. Witmeyer Present Present Present Present Present Present Present William H. Cairnie was then sworn into the office of Mayor by repeating the Oath ~f Loyalty. Clifton E. Mosher was then sworn into the office of Councilman from Zon~ , 2 by repeating the Oath of Loyalty. Vice Mayor Lodico presented the gavel to Mayor Cairnie and he and Councilman Mosher were seated at the Council table. Mayor Cairnie intr.oduced his wife to those present. He went on to thank the people of Edgewater for their vote of confidence in this election and told them he would do his best in their interests. Mayor Cairnie commended the Councilmen for the job they had done in carrying the extra load without a full Council. He also stated that. he was .glad Mr. Mosher agreed to serve on the Council and that the door to the Mayor's office was always open and any suggestions or criticisms were welcome. Mr. Mosher said he didn't make any prepared speech, but was deeply gratified that 415 people pulled the lever for him when he was running unopposed. He wanted the people to know he would do his best for the City of Edgewater and hopes to have a good five or six months. Elsie L. Ward, City Clerk, read a letter from Councilman Mosher requesting the following appointments as his replacements: Mrs. Loretta I. Shafer, 407 Joyce St. to Community Center Board of Governors Mr. Charles N. Hamel , 208 S. Riverside Dr. to Edgewater Zoning Board. Councilman Walls made a motion that the City Attorney draft a resolution appointing Mrs. Shafer to the Board of Governors of the Community Center. Couci1man Lodico seconded the motion and it was passed by the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the Recessed meeting of said Council held May 17th, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous. Page 1 of 2 Pages ,J r , / o o o " Councilman Bebbington made a motion that the City Attorney be instructed to draft a resolution appointing Mr. Hamel to the position of Member of the Zoning Board from Zone # 2. The motion was seconded by Councilman Walls and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the Recessed meeting of said Council held May 17th, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous. Councilman Mosher introdu~ed Mr. Hamel to those present. Mrs. Shafer was not present. He then introduced Mrs. Mosher to ever yon e . Mr. Robert A. Maxwell invited the Mayor and Councilmen to take part in the Veteran's Servicesfon Memorial Day being held on Sunday, May 28th. There being no further business, motion duly made by Councilman Walls we now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and there were no objections. Minutes taken by Patricia A.
