J u 0 0 , .~ SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA HELD FEBRUARY 22ND, 1967 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was called to order by Vice Mayor Jacob Lodico at 7:30 P.M. in the Mayor's Office. Ward Deputy City Clerk Marie Robinson Police Chief Herman Witmeyer Absent Present Present Present Present Present Present Present Absent Purposes of Meeting: Appropriating additional funds for New Library Accepting donation from Councilman Walls Awarding Bids on New Lib~ary The Meeting was called by Councilman Lodico, Councilman Walls and Councilman Bebbington. ORDINANCE NUMBER 529 APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $1,500.00 FROM UNAPPROPRIATED FUNDS TO THE LIBRARY BUILDING FUND. The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion duly made by Councilman Bebbington this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Walls and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the special meeting of the said Council held February 22nd, 1967. The roll call vote was as follows: Councilman Cairnie Councilman Walls Councilman Bebbington Vice Mayor Lodico Nay Yea Yea Yea Upon motion duly made by Councilman Bebbington, seconded by Councilman Walls the requirement of reading Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put into effect immediately at the special meeting of the City Council held February 22nd, 1967. The roll call vote was as follows: Councilman Cairnie Councilman Walls Councilman Bebbington Vice Mayor Lodico Nay Yea Yea Yea A letter was read from Bau1 F. Walls stating in order to reduce the contract price of the new library he would bequeath to the City $580.00 under the conditions that if for any reason the bids are not accepted or the construction of the library is not completed the $580.00 would be returned to him. If the final cost does not require the full donation, the balance will be refunded to the donor. The letter was dated February 21st. The roll call vote was as follows: Councilman Cairnie Councilman Walls Councilman Bebbington Vice Mayor Lodico Nay Yea Yea Yea RESOLUTION NUMBER 168 ACCEPTING THE BID OF ~ROLD J. READ, GENERAL CONTRACTOR, OF NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIO~, SAID BID BEING IN THE AMOUNT OF $23,580. The above Resolution was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion duly made by Councilman Bebbington this resolution be adopted, seconded by Councilman Walls and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the special meeting of the City Council held February 22nd, 1967. The roll call vote was as follows: Councilman Cairnie Councilman Walls Councilman Bebbington Vice Mayor Lodico Nay Yea Yea Yea Councilman Walls was thanked by a number of persons present for his donation of $580.00. He said he was glad to do it as he does not want to see any more delays on building the new library. The City Clerk stated that Elizabeth Cole, State Library Consultant, Tallahassee, called Mayor Tingle and asked that she be fuformed before any ground was broken for the new library. Washington was pressing her for a definite time and she gave February 25th as the dead line. She also wants to meet with the Contractor and Sub-Contractor before the building is started. She is mailing some forms to be signed. She also stated that $11,000 was being held in Tallahassee and the remaining 10% would be held until the building is completed. There being no further business, motion duly made by Councilman Walls we now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and there were no objections. Minutes taken by Marie Rminson.
