01-23-1967 - Special 6 o Q o L ~ ~ SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, HELD JANUARY 23rd, 1967 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida was ca~led to order by Mayor Earl L. Wafd Deputy City Clerk Marie Robinson Acting Police Chief General Fugate Present Present Present Present Present Present Present Present Present PURPOSE OF THE MEETING Mayor Tingle called this special meeting to amend the Budget for the Fiscal Year 1966-67 and for the purpose of considering the TAx Assessors certification and to determine the millage to be levied for 1966, also for the purpose of considering whether in order to meet itssbudget requirement a request must be made for a millage in excess of that permitted by the ratio certified by the TAx Assessor. To reject the library bid and to reject bids on the Fire Truck Tank. ORDINANCE NUMBER 527 DETERMINING AND SETTING THE MILLAGE TO BE LEVIED BY THE CITY OF EDGEWATER FOR 1966. The above Ordinancp was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion duly made by Councilman Walls this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the special meeting of the said council held January 23rd, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Walls, seconded by Councilman Bebbington the requirement of reading Ordinance upon second reading was waived and the Ordinance was ordered put into effect immediately at the special meeting of the City Council held January 23rd, 1967. The roll call vote was unanimous. The Council emphasized that this was the City Millage and not the County. Councilman Walls said there is a good chance the council will be able to roll back the millage again next year. ORDINANCE NUMBER 528 AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 518 AND SETTINr, A BUDGET AND APPROPRIATING REVENUES TO BE COLLECTED FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING NOVEMBER 1, 1966 AND ENDING OCTOBER 31, 1967 TO THE VARIOUS ITEMS OF THE CITY BUDGET. The above Ordinance was read in full by City Attorney Hall and motion duly made by Councilman Walls this ordinance be adopted, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and passed by vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at the special meeting of the said Council held January 23rd, 1967. Motion duly made by Councilman Walls the bid we tentatively accepted be hereby rejected on the Library Construction, seconded by Councilman Bebbington and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was unanimous. Motion duly made by Councilman Walls we reject all bids on the Fire Truck Tank, seconded by Councilman Cairnie and by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was unanimous. Motion duly made bv Councilman Walls the to advertise for bids for a new tank for be in by 4:00 P.M., February 6th, 1967; from the City Clerk. Motion seconded by by vote CARRIED. The roll call vote was City Clerk be authorized the F,ire Truck; bids to specifications are available Councilman Cairnie and unanimous. Mrs. Nell Jones asked what was going to be done about the new library. Councilman Walls: We were forced by our Charter to rebid. We can not accept the bid in the amount of $?8,000 when our estimated bid was $23,000. The Cnuncil is now giving thought to redesigning the building and a~e definitely continuing to work to get plans for a new library. There being no further business, motion duly made by Councilman Walls we now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Oairnie and there were no objections. Minutes taken by Marie Robinson.
