Mayor Cairnie: There's been a lot of publicity about the Chief
in one newspaper. I don't know where they got the story, it
certainly didn't come from, as far as I know, the Council. I
think the persons who called up the newspapers, 11m going to use
a Scottish expression, They must be touched in the head, their
brain must have been unbalanced because as far as I can find
out there is no truth in it. I've checked with the Council;
and they seem to know nothing about it, so I don't know how the
story got started. Frank do you have anything you wish to say
about this?
Councilman Norman: I just wanted to say that we think that the
Chief, Chief Heath is a most efficient and dedicated Police Officer.
We are perfectly satified with his services and had no such
intentions. I wanted to ask the Council for a vote of confidence
for Chief Heath tonight. In fact at this time if it's not out of
o rd e r.
Mayor Cairnie: Do you wish to make that as a motion.
Councilman Norman: Yes, I do.
A Motion was duly made by Councilman Norman, Second by Councilman
Dimm to extend to our Chief a vote of Confidence from this Council.
The motion upon roll call vote CARRIED.
Mayor Cairnie: I think this should clear up the matter.
