REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA
HELD MAY 19, 1969
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida was called to order by Mayor William H. Cairnie at 7:30
P.M., May 19,1969.

A Motion was duly made by Councilman Ledbetter, second by
Councilman Norman to accept the above Bills & Accounts and
the Motion upon roll call vote CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORTS
Certification of Posting of May 6, 1969.
COMMUNICATIONS
A LETTER from the Department of the Army dated May 14, 1969,
regarding a petition received on the fishing pier proposed for
Indian River.
A Motion was duly made by Councilman Dietz, second by Councilman
Norman to table this letter until they find out what the Chamber
of Commerce has to offer. The Motion upon roll call vote CARRIED.
A LETTER from the Fire Department dated May 13, 1969 regarding
the purchase of fireworks for the 4th of July celebration.
A Motion was duly made by Councilman Ledbetter, second by
Councilman Norman to give the Fire Department the money needed
to b,uy the fireworks. The Motion upon roll call vote CARRIED.
A LETTER FROM the War Veteran's Council Dated May 13, 1969,
regarding a wreath for Memorial day.
A Motion was duly made by Councilman Norman, second by Councilman
Ledbetter to purchase the wreath. The Motion upon roll call vote
CARRIED.
A LETTER From the Department of Health, Education & Welfare
dated May 9, 1969 stating that they wish to thank the City for

their service and commended the Police Department for the rapid
and courteous method with which they handled their request.

OLD BUSINESS
A Motion was made by Councilman Dietz to issue a permit to
Mr. Robert Poland to fill his property on the waterfront under
condition that if there is any difficulty from the Internal
Improvement Boar.d Mr. Poland will take care of it himself.
The Motion was second by Councilman Norman and upon roll call
vote CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
A Motion was duly made by Councilman Norman to purchase 2
self-containing breathing apparatus and 1 foam eductor for
the Fire Department and that specifications are to be picked
up at City Hall and the bids are to be returned by June 16,
1969 at 4:00 P.M. Councilman Ledbetter seconded the motion
and upon roll. call vote CARRIED.
MISCELLANEOUS
Councilman Ledbetter presented Chief Heath with an award
from the Veterians of Foreign War for entering a contest
for them.
Mr. Paul Walls announced that the Edgewater LIbrary is now
on a new system and that everyone should get their new
library cards which can be used at anyone of the Public
Libraries within Volusia County.
There.being no further business a Motion was duly made by
Councl1man Ledbetter, second by Councilman Norman to adjourn
the meeting. The Motion upon roll call vote CARRIED.
