OLD BUSINESS
A motion was duly made by Councilman Dietz and seconded by Councilman
Fugate to rescind a motion made on April 20, 1970, referring
the request of Harold and Vera McLane to place a trailer on their
property to the Zoning Board.
Councilman Dietz explained that this request would have to be
denied at this time, since the City Ordinance prohibits trailers
being located outside trailer parks. Additionally, the McLanes
should be advised that if they so desire, they may apply to the
Zoning Board, with the proper papers, for a decision.
Upon roll call vote of said motion and second, said motion CARRIED.
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. J. Patrick Michaels of the TM Communications Company reported
to the Council on the recent survey made in Edgewater for cable
television.
Mr. Michaels stated that due to the limited number of homes surveyed
in the Edgewater area, his company felt the system should be
combined with the New Smyrna Beach area. He stated that 5,000
homes should be included in one area for proper programming and
coverage.
He fu~ther stated that the night of May 26, 1970, New Smyrna
Beach would advertise for bids for cable television in that
City, and his company would definitely bid for that area.
The possibility of cable television for the City of Edgewater
has not been decided upon as of this date; however, Mr. Michaels
stated that should his company win the New Smyrna bid and
Edgewater decided at a later date upon cable television, our
City would be given the same consideration if we contracted with
TM Communications.
Mayor Cairnie announced to the public in attendance that the
City Council had met with the County Commissioners and the
road paving program for 1970 had been approved as follows:
Turgot Street - Recap, US 1 to Riverside Drive
Orange Street - Recap, US 1 to Riverside Drive
Indian River Blvd. - Seal both sides, US 1 to Riverside Drive
Riverside Drive to US 1 - Seal (south end'of Riverside Drive)

Mayor Cairnie further stated that the County had agreed to assist
the City of Edgewater in getting Orange Tree Drive ready for
paving early in 1972.
In conjunction with the sealing of Indian River Boulevard, Mayor
Cairnie announced that he had received a large folder of material
from the State Road Planning Department in the mail recently.
Included in these proposed projects now under consideration is
a six-lane bridge, which would be a continuation of Indian River
Boulevard over the Intra-Coastal Waterway to highway AlA.
MISCELLANEOUS
A question was raised from the audience as to whether the State
Road Department had made any decision on eliminating the traffic
hazard at the Shopping Center on North Ridgewood.
Members of the Council stated that no word had been received
from the State relative to elimination of this hazard.
Mr. Paul Walls addressed the Council and stated that the platform
which runs between the two boat ramps at the Park and Pier had
begun to deteriorate and starts to sink toward the end of the ramp.
He suggested to the Council that it be reinforced and repaired
and Mayor Cairnie stated he would check into the matter.
There being no further business, Councilman Dietz duly moved
for adjournment of the meeting, said motion being seconded by
Councilman Fugate and CARRIED.
