Councilman Ledbetter stated the following: liThe previous meeting or two, we tabled the shuffleboard courtls request and I said at the last meeting I would have some recommendations for the Council. I move we give them the two shuffleboard courts and all four Councilmen from all districts participate in paving the parking lot on their paving program for this year and for the bids to be sent out for the seawall or retainer wall at the Park and Pier." Said motion was seconded by Councilman Lodico. Councilman Dietz pointed out that a motion to draw up specifications for the repair of the seawall had been made previously; therefore, Councilman Ledbetter withdrew that portion of his motion. When Councilman Fugate asked how much of the parking lot was to be paved, Councilman Ledbetter replied, "Just the front of the parking lot here by the shuffleboard courts". Councilman Dietz pointed out that this would be an excellent time to make the public aware of the newly enacted Ordinance on the control of dogs in the City of Edgewater. Councilman Dietz, therefore, duly moved to have condensed copies of this new Ordinance available for those people participating in getting their dogs rabies shots. Said motion was seconded by Councilman Ledbetter, and upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED. Councilman Fugate made the following statement to the public: liAs one of the Council that was in favor of bringing the dispatchers back to Edgewater, we have advertised for radio dispatchers and so far, we have only got two, and I think, I don't know if the people don't understand it, but we have only got one or two from Edgewater and most of the applications are from New Smyrna Beach. There has been a little misunderstanding and I want to say that women are NOT barred from this job. I think some of the former dispatchers did not understand that they should come in and fill out another application. If any of you know of someone who is looking for a. job, tell them to come in and fill out an application. Applications can be picked up at the City Clerk's office." Mayor Cairnie stated the City Council would be holding a workshop session at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 3, to discuss the water rate problem. He further stated there would be discussion only and no official action would be taken at this time. -3 - , l U u .
