RESOLUTIONS
RESOLUTION NO. 330: A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID
OF NEW SMYRNA MOTORS OF NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FLORIDA, FOR A NEW 1970
CAR AS PER SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE SUM OF $2,299.00.
A motion for adoption of said Resolution was duly made by Councilman
Ledbetter and seconded by Councilman Fugate. Upon roll call vote,
said motion CARRIED.
RESOLUTION NO. 331: A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID
OF MOTOROLA COMMUNICATIONS & ELECTRONICS, INC., OF JACKSONVILLE,
FLORIDA, FOR THREE (3) TWO-WAY RADIOS FOR THE CARS IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT FOR $2,940.00.
Councilman Ledbetter stated his desire to question Mr. Davis, the
representative from Engineering Consultants, Inc., who was present
at the meeting, on the different prices on the bids received.
Mr. Davis addressed the Council and stated his bid was wholesale
versus retail and further, that a retail price on the same product
would have come out just under $700 each, or a total of approximately
$2100.00.
Mayor Cairnie questioned whether the bid received from Motorola
came directly from the factory; then the Mayor noted to the Council,
after checking the letterhead, that Motorola's bid was received
from the factory in Jacksonville.
Mr. Davis stated his quoted prices included a profit margin, but
that manufacturers bid directly to users and leave no margin.
Councilman Dietz expressed his wish to re-advertise and send bids
to all the major manufacturers, stating: "I think we should try
to get the most for these people's money, and since we have radios
already, there shouldn't be any hurry on getting new ones."
Councilman Ledbetter: "I move \'Ie recess this meeting until we
can get the Motorola representative here".
Said motion was seconded by Councilman Dietz, who then asked
Councilman Fugate if he was willing to wait until the Motorola
representative was present.
