THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER REGULAR MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 3, 1969 o The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, was called to order by Mayor William H. The motion to approve the minutes of the October 20th meeting of the City Council was duly made by Councilman Dimm, seconded by Councilman Norman. Upon roll call vote the motion. CARRIED. Upon roll call vote the motion CARRIED. OFFICERS REPORTS Certification of Posting (2) . Library Report COMMUNICATIONS City Clerk Elsie L. Ward read a letter from Mr. Thomas J. Murphy, Director, Governor's Highway Safety Commission, which was directed to Mayor William H. Cairnie as Municipal Judge for the City of Edgewater. The letter was in the form of an invitation to attend the Governor's Highway Safety Conference in Daytona Beach, on November 6 and 7, 1969. Councilman Norman moved to appoint the newly-elected mayor, whoever he may be, as the attendant to this Conference. After the seconding of this motion by Councilman Ledbetter and upon roll call vote, the motion CARRIED. ORDINANCES None RESOLUTIONS RESOLUTION NO. 313: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AND DESIGNATING ELLA MURIEL IHNKEN AS ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, AND SETTING FORTH HER DUTIES AND COMPENSATION. The aforestated Resolution was read in its entirety by City Attorney Charles A. Hall. The above and foregoing Resolution was presented by Councilman Norman who moved its adoption and seconded by Councilman Ledbetter. Upon roll call vote the motion CARRIED. OLD BUSINESS Councilman Dimm moved to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk now in office to sign the contract with Ward LaFrance for a new fire truck (Ordinance No. 638). Said motion was seconded by Councilman Norman and upon roll call vote, said motion CARRIED with Councilman Ledbetter voting NAY. NEW BUSINESS None MISCELLANEOUS A Proclamation from Mayor William H. Cairnie was read in its entirety by City Attorney Charles A. Hall. The Mayor's Proclamation designated the dates of Friday, November 7th and Saturday, November 8, 1969, as Buddy Poppy Sale Days in the City of Edgewater, under the direction of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Mayor, by Proclamation, urged the citizens of Edgewater to contribute generously through the purchase of buddy poppies. A motion to adopt this Proclamation was duly madeJby Councilman Dimm and seconded by Councilman Ledbetter. Upon roll call vote the motion CARRIED. -2- I I I I .., ~ ..... u o o There being no further business, Councilman Ledbetter moved to recess the meeting until November 5, 1969, at 4:00 p.m., in order to canvass the absentee ballots.
