REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
Clork roportod that ho had contacted Mr.Swoat ,Division Engineer of tho Stato
Road Dopartmant,at DeLand, in regard to tho 45MpH signs on tho highway. Mr. Swoat
said that ho could do nothing about thoso signs but advised that the Town write to
the State Road Commission at Tallahassoe and roquest that those signs bo changed.
Clark raad a lottor from MIs IkGowan in answer to a lettor requosting pormission
to place a sign on her proporty. Mrs McGowan said toot if tho printed matter on the
sign was not objectionablo sho would givo hor pormission. Clork instruoted to write

Riverodge Acres and ownod by Susan Jacobs. Clerk was instructod to ask Tax As--
sessor Hornor Smith to oonfirm this noto on his lettor head.
Attornoy French roportod that ho had contaoted Attornoy Soldo~'in regard to tho
Town property hold by Jaok edio. Attorney Soldon told Attorney Fronch that Edie had
premIsed tb deliver this proporty to him but had not dono so to data.
~'lyor-Councilmnn Fuller roportod that certain merchants in tho town had boen con-
tactod in regard to solling cigarettos by tho carton, at a pric/J to oomppcto with
tho cut rate stores in New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach. Tho idoar of this is to i
incroase tho sale of oigarottes in tho Town thereby increasing tho tax roturn from
tho Stato to tho town,also as a leador to hOlp incroaso thoir own businoss.
Edgowatcr Corner Grocory is tho first ~e~ant to comply with this requost,
Also Mr. Hanson of BQauty Rost Cabins and Mr. Bloy of Alligator Gardons said thQY
would com~ly with this request.

Council on tho afternoon of January 25,1950. Commissionor Saxon agreodod to allot
tho sum of ~OO .00 to tho Town of ,gdgewntcr for futuro recroat iona1 purpurses and
that tho Town might havo all the shell the Town might roquiro for the stroets at
no cost to the Town, and to c10an and 10wor the level of tho ditch wast olf tho
railroad to carry eff tho water new flooding the yards of tho noighborhodd. Also
tho river road was inspoctod to SQO what could be dono to straighten this road
in somo p1n~os and put tho road in good condition.

Florida was put upon first reading. Councilman Todd toof oxception to tho Sunday
hours and movod that tho 2:00 P. M. Sunday to 2:00 A. M. monday be changod to
road 2:00 P M. to 10:00 P. M. Sunday, secondod by Mayor-Councilman Fu110r and bn

Councilman Todd stated that he was still in fov0r of issuing police cards to Now
Smyrna pol icC). Counci 1mnn Kuh1hoff' protosted against issuing those cards. M~yor-
Councilman Fuller said that ho could at his discretion issuo police cards with
out the approval of tho Council. no action was taken
Councilman Kuh1hoff asked .Attorno.y Fronch if in his opinion tho suit now in court
would be tried at this term, Attorney French replied that with the judgo ill and
unable to attend court it was net expected te como up for trial at this term.
Attorney French when asked if he thought it would como to trial at any time this YI
year,roplied he was certain it would, probably at tho next term of court.

R. G. Rionwa1d asked permission to spaak and in tho course of hie rem~rks said
that rumors wora going around that Edgcwator had, as he put it, "boon sold down the
rivor"and wished in order to settle these rumors,ask..Counci1man ~'odd and Mayor-
Councilman Fuller how thoy steod on tho on tho power and light ouostion and in
regards to Edgewator becoming a part of Now Smyrna Boach. Councilm~n Todd replied
that he had purchased property in Bdgowatcr with the intention of making Edgowator
his home and would certainly do nothing to help now Smyrna annex ~dgowator, As
fer Pow0r & Light Co if they would put in writing that thoy w~u1d assume all costs
if they came in to Edgowater,he was 100% for Florida Power & Light Co.

of tho men that helped incorporatQ tho Town of Edgewatcr, to guard against anything
of th is kind.
Ceuncilman Kuh1hoff statod that in tho ovcnt that tho Florida Power & Light Ce,
comas into Edgcwator,it will not cost tho people of Edgcwater ono ponny and that
his faith in the spoken word of the Florida Pewer & Light CO was so gr0at that in
the ovent that they do pay for tho costs of the sui t, hC) would personally would
