MISCELLANEOUS.
Mayor-Councilman Fuller proposed that a group of citizens go to
Jacksonville to see about having spoilage from the Canal placed on
the various properties along the river front. It was decided that each
property owner desiring the spoilage placed on his property should
sign an easement, giving the U. S. Engineering Department and the
Inland Waterways permission to place the spoilage on their property.
The following men volunteered to go to Jacksonville to see what could
be arranged: Mayor-Councilman Fuller, Councilman R. T. Friedley,
Councilman Gibbs, Mr. A. LaBonae, Mr. Rudolph Huettich and Mr. Percy
Loveland.
Councilman Friedley proposed that a speed limit of 35 miles per hour
be placed ,on Riverside Drive, and that signs be erected stating that
trucks over one (1) ton would not be permitted on that street. It
was decided also that Stop signs should be erected on all streets
entering Riverside Drive. Mayor-Councilman Fuller suggested that
Mr. Spargo continue his leave of absence for one week, to enable him
to get estimates on the cost of having the Speed Limit, Truck, and
Stop Signs made.
Fire Chief Bane reported that the old road from Park Avenue extending
back of the Ship Restaurant should be opened, as so many fires have
started there and it is almost impossible to get in to put them out.
Mr. Hanson suggested that when the new Budget is decided upon, that
the Council consider buying a new fire tiruck due to the condition of
the one in present use. He explained that the truck is obsolete,
and cannot be depended upon.
