Wood Present Present Present Present Present Absent READING OF MINUTES. The minutes of the regular meeting held May 29, 1951 were read. Councilman Friedley moved they be approved as read, seconded by Mayor-Councilman Fuller and by vote CARRIED. BILLS AND ACCOUNTS. COMrIDNICAT IONS Town Clerk Spargo presented a letter to the Council concerning a cross-walk at the Post Office on Route 1. This was discussed by the Council, 'and all agreed that a cross-walk at that point would be a hazard, due to the stop-light which controls traffic directly south of the proposed cross-walk. REPORTS FROM OFFICERS. Attorney Hawkins reported that he had talked with an official at De Land concerning the moving af a speed limit sign at the south end of Edgewater, and was told the sign should not be moved. He also stated that he had not received the Charter from Tallahassee, but that he had a draft of the Charter, which he would leave with Town Clerk Spargo for anyone who was interested ,in reading it. .J ''( G ri . ", u u v Attorney Hawkins reported that he would be available at any time to give any assistance needed, and said he would be at the Town Hall June 20 at 7:30 P.M., on June 27 and July 11 after the regular meet- ings. Hayor-Councilman Fuller asked that this be posted, and a notice sent to the newspapers. Mayor-Councilman Fuller noted that a copy of the Charter would be available for inspection by the public June 14, 1951. Mayor-Councilman Fuller reported that the list of names had been made of persons to be stricken from the Registration Books, and all persons now living should be notified by registered mail that this action is being taken. Councilman Friedley made a motion that these names be . stricken and the notifications sent. This was seconded by Mayor- Councilman Fuller and be vote CARRIED. Mayor-Councilman Fuller Councilman Friedley Yes Yes RESOLUTIONS. A RESOLUTION ENTITLED: A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A DEPUTY TOWN CLERK OF THE TOWN OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA. A resolution was read by Attorney Hawkins that a Deputy Town Clerk be appointed to assist Town Clerk Spargo who has been in ill health, and that Crawford C. Shaeffer be appointed to learn the dutues of the Town Clerk. This resolution is attached and made a part of these minutes. It was moved by Councilman Friedley and seconded by Mayor- Councilman Fuller that the above and foregoing Resolution be adopted by the T01~ Council of the Town of Edgewater, Florida, and be spread upon and made a part of the minutes of this meeting. The motion' carried, the result of the voting being as follows: Mayor-Councilman Fuller Yes Councilman Friedley Yes MISCELLANEOUS. Attorney Hawkins suggested a bond be made for the Deputy Town Clerk, since there would probably be times when he would assume full responsi- bility of the office. Mayor-Councilman Fuller asked that Mr. Tumblin be contacted to see if an endorsement or rider to the present bond of the Town Clerk would not be sufficient coverage. It was agreed upon by Council that Mr. Shaeffer should be made a Notary Public to properly fulfill his duties. Councilman Friedley moved that the Town pay the fee to have these papers drawn, seconded by Mayor-Councilman Fuller and CARRIED. Councilman Friedley moved the bid be accepted, Mayor-Councilman Fuller seconded the motion, and by vote CARRIED.
