REPORT OF OFFICERS The Clerk read the Budget Report and the Clerks Cash Statement for the month of September 1952. COMMUNICATIONS The Clerk read letters from Owens Brothers, The Segrave Corporation and Mr. Garlick. ORDINANCES AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 161 OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY FLORIDA. The above and foregoing Ordinance was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and upon Roll Call vote same was not adopted. RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER TO NARROW DIXWOOD AVENUE IN THE CITY OF EDGEWATER AS PER MAP BOOK 8, PAGE 73, PUBLIC RECORDS OF VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FROM A 50 FOOT WIDE STREET TO A 30 FOOT WIDE STREET, AND PRO- VIDING FOR THE SERVING OF NOTICE UPON ABUTTING PROPERTY O\VNERS AND THE TU1E AND PLACE AT WHICH OBJECTIONS CAN BE HEARD BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL. . The above Resolution was read in full by Attorney Chisholm and on Motion by Councilman Gibbs the City Council adopt this re- solution as read, subject to a public hearing to be held 0c~qQer 22nd at 7:30, seQonded by Councilman Haughton, and upon Roll Call vote the said Resolution was duly declared adopted at the regular meeting of said Council held the 8th day of October,A.D. 1952. The Roll Call vote of said Council being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Gibbs Councilman Haughton MayorCouncilman Friedley Yes Absent Yes Yes Yes NEW BUSINESS Motion by Councilman Fuller the City Council of the City of Edgewater hold a Special Meeting Sept. 15th at 6:30 P.~. to receive petitions for Councilman for the Special Election to be held November 4th, 1952. Seconded by Councilman Gibbs and by vote CARRIED. Motion by Councilman Gibbs the work of building shelves in the Library be completed as soon as possible. Seconded by Council- man Haughton. Councilman Fuller sugfested to the Council to get estimat~s on the cost of Remodeling the City Hall and also estimates on the cost of a New City Hall and mailing out letters or cards to all tax-payers when comparative figures are available for a scratch vote on the isse and act in accordance. Motion by Councilman Fuller, Mr. Garlick's request for the pur- chase of two sirens at $100.00 each to be placed at the North end of the City and one at the South end of the City be granted. Seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED. A letter was presented to the Council at this time by Miss Ruth Blake in behalf of her Father James F. Blake asking permission to sell package liquor on Sunday during the hours of 12 noon until 10:00 P.M. Motion by Councilman Haughton that the request for Sunday Sale of Package Liquor be tabled until O.ct:ober _1' 22nd, at which time if agreeable an ordinance covering would be ready. Seconded by Councilman Gibbs and by vote CARRIED. After a discussion on Civil Defense, Councilman Gibbs stated he would see that a meeting would be called as soon as Councilman Shaeffer returns and he would like to see all persons interested attend. There being no further business Councilman Fuller moved we do now adjourn, Seconded by Councilman Gibbs and by vote CARRIED.
