REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA,
HELD AUGUST 13th, 1952.
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Volusia County, Florida was called to order by Mayor Friedley at
7:30 P.M. .

The minutes of the regular meeting held July 23rd and minutes of
Special Meetings held August 8th and August 12th were read. Motion
by Councilman Fuller these minutes be approved as read, seconded by
Councilman Gibbs and by vote CARRIED.

Motion by Councilman Shaeffer these bills be approved as read, paid
and be made part of these minutes, seconded by Councilman Fuller and
by vote CARRIED.
OFFICERS REPORT
The City Clerk read the Budget Report and the Cash Statement for
the Month of July.

COMMUNICATIONS
The Clerk read two letters, one from Rett McMillian confirming the
telephone conversation setting a rate of $7.00 per Month for service
on the Radio in the Police Car. The other from Mr. Evans asking he
~ be allowed to put a sign up advertising his dogs, at least until
January 1st, 1953.

ED BY THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA, FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1951 and ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1952 TO THE
VARIOUS ITEMS OF THE CITY BUDGET."
The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the
City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular ~eeting
on the 13th day of August A.D. 1952.

Upon motion duly made by Councilman Fuller and seconded by Council-
man Gibbs and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said
ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was
ordered put upon final passage.
Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater,
Florida at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 13th day of
August, A.D. 1952, and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said
Council on Roll Call being as follows:-

RESOLUTIONS
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR ALL NECESSARY AND ORDINARY
EXPENSES AND EXTRAORDINARY EXPENSES FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA FOR THE YEAR BEGINNING NOVEMBER lst,A.D.
1952 and ENDING OCTOBER 31st, A.D. 1953.
This resolution was read in full. Motion by Councilman this
budget be adopted as read for the year 1952-1953 this 13th day
of August, A.D. 1952. Seconded by Councilman Haughton and by
vote CARRIED. Roll Call vote being as follows:-

A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A FIRE CHIEF FOR THE CITY OF EDGEWATER,
VOLUSIA COUNTY, FLORIDA.
This resolution was read in full and on Motion by Councilman Haughton
this ordinance be passed appointing Fred Garlick Fire Chief of the
Volunteer Fire Department. Seconded by Councilman Fuller a~d by
vote CARRIED.
~lje, Clerk read a request to the Council authorizing the transfer
I "76;1Of $1 r..) t: I' ':' .~O from the Emerg7ncy fund to the Police Department and
also a transfer to $2,352.OO{from the General Fund to the Emergency
Fund to cover the cost of the Ford Chassis for the Fire Equipment.
Motion by Councilman Fuller this request be granted to cover the
cost of the Fire Truck Chassis and to replace funds in the Police
Department. previously used to pay for the Police Car. Seconded by
Councilman Shaeffer and by vote CARRIED. Roll call vote being as
follows:-

NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Friedley ask what disposition the Council wished to take on
the letter presented to the Council by Mr. Evans. Motion by
Councilman Gibbs, Mr. Evans be given the same consideration that
other citizens had been granted, and Mr. Evans be allowed to ad-
vertise his Dogs until Jan. 1st, 1953. Seconded by Councilman
Haughton and by vote CARRIED.

Mayor Friedley brought before the Council the fact that t he old
shed back of the City Hall was a detriment to the surrounding
property and ask if something could be done about it. Councilman
Fuller ask that this be tabled for at least thirty (30) days.
Their being no further business Councilman Gibbs moved we do now
adjourn, seconded by Councilman Fuller and by vote CARRIED. _
