05-28-1952 - Regular ~ G u u o REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA, HELD MAY 2$, 1952. The meeting was called toorder at 7:30 P.M. By Mayor-Councilman Friedley. COMMUNICATIONS A letter received from Mr. St.John asking to be excused from the zoning commission for the one case of the re-zoning of Riveredge Acres was read, and by motion of Councilman Shaeffe~ and seconded by Councilman Gibbs, he be excused from this commission for this case only, and by vote CARRIED. Councilman Haughton ask the Council to consider giving a specified sum to the C. of C. of New Smyrna Beach to be used toward printing of additional advertising folders like the ones printed last year. Upon motion made by Coy~cilman Shaeffer the Council donate $200.00 to the C. of C. of New Smyrna Beach to be used for additional ad- vertising folders, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote carried. An ordinance appointing RussellLeslie, Patrolman on the Police Force for the City of Edgewater, Volusia County, Florida with full power and authority to do and perform all the duties of said office as fixed and defined by the Charter and Ordinances of said City and the Laws of the State of Florida, to serve as such at the will of the City Council of said City, that the said Russell Leslie shall be paid the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00) per month for Vis services, said appointment being effective as of the 1st day of May A.D. 1952. fI L, u u v The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the 28th day of May A.D. 1952. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Shaeffer and seconded by Councilman Haughton and unanimously carried the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 28th day of May A.D. 1952 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on roll call being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Yes Councilman Shaeffer n Councilman Gibbs n Councilman Haughton n Councilman Friedley n ~~ AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELEOTRICAL CODE OF RULES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONAL BOARD OF FIRE UNDERWRITERS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRIC WIRING AND APPARATUS AND PROVIDING THE PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF AND FURTHER PROVIDING INSPECTION FEES. The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the 28th day of May A.D. 1952. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Fuller and seconded by Council- man Shaeffer and unanimously carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading w as waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. A.D. 1952 and approved as provided by Law, the vote of said Council on Roll Call being as follows:- Councilman Fuller Councilman Shaeffer Councilman Gibbs Councilman Haughton Councilman Friedley Yes " " " " AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE AND PROVIDING jra THE PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THERE: BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY \ -, COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWATER, FLORIDA. All construction alteration and repair and all material and all appliances used in connection with construction, alteration and repair of structures in the City of Edgewater, Florida shall be in conformity to the rules and regulations set down in what is known as the Southern Standard Building Code asthe same are now established or as the same may hereafter be established from time to time, and the said rules and regulations are hereby adopted and approved and made a part of t his ordinance. The above ordinance was read in full and passed by the vote of the City Council of the City of Edgewater, Florida at a regular meeting on the 28th day of May, A.D. 1952. Upon motion duly made by Councilman Gibbs and seconded by Councilman Haughton and unanimously carried, the requirement of reading said ordinance upon second reading was waived, and the ordinance was ordered put upon final passage. Pierce Co. of Jacksonville, Florida to meet with this Council June 11th to discuss the possibility of financing improvements, such as a water system. Seconded by Councilman Shaeffer, and by vote CARRIED. There being no further business, Councilman Shaeffer moved we do now a djourn, seconded by Councilman Fuller. Time 9:00 P.M.
