03-12-1952 - Regular rl Ii ~ v u J REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDGEWA TER, FLORIDA' HELD MARCH 12, 1952. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Friedley at 7:30 P.M. Wood Present Present Present Present Present Present Present Present Present The minutes of the regular meeting of the Council held February 27, 1952 were read. Councilman Shaeffer moved that these minutes be approved as read, seconded by Councilman Fuller and by vote CARRIED. Councilman Shaeffer made a suggestion to the council to have the City Clerk read all bills instead of passing same. BILLS & ACCOUNTS Kiep Brothers C. & M. Motor Co. REPORT OF OFFICERS The Clerk read the Budget Report and the Cash Report for the month of February 1952. COMMUNICATIONS A letter of resignation was read by City Clerk Belva Sargent. Councilman Shaeffer moved this letter be approved (with regrets) and Councilman Haughton seconded the motion. ORDINANCE ~ I~ An Ordinance appointing Frank F. Dippery, City Clerk for' the City of Edgewater, Florida was read by Attorney Chisholm. Councilman Fuller moved that a second reading be waived and Councilman Haughton seconded the motion. Roll Call vote was then taken Mayor-Councilman Friedley Yes Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Fuller Yes Councilman Gibbs Yes Councilman Haughton Yes "'"' " G u u o OLD BUSINESS The "Application for a Business, Occupational or Professional" license of Morris Relyea was reopened by the Council. Mr. Relyea asked that a record be made of the fact that he had applied for a business license September 1, 1951, and asked Councilman Fuller if, at that time, he had a legal right to approve the application. Councilman Fuller replied that he believed, as Mayor, he had that right. When Mr. Relyea asked why he did not receive the license, Councilman Fuller replied that he did not know. Councilman Shaeffer moved that a roll call vote be taken to determine if the Council would uphold or reject the findings of the Adjustment Board. This move was seconded by Councilman Fuller. The Roll Call vote was then taken, and the Council unanimously voted to uphold the Board, said vote being as follows:- Mayor-Councilman Friedley Yes Councilman Shaeffer Yes Councilman Fuller Yes Councilman Gibbs Yes Councilman Haughton Yes NEW BUSINESS Mayor Friedley announced, starting April 1st all dogs without licenses would be picked up and impounded, and if not called for within one week would be destroyed. They will be released to owners by paying board, inoculation and license fees. A petition for a new light to be placed at Ridgewood Ave. & Connecticut Ave. was read. Same was tabled until some time in the future when new lights were being installed. Mr. Gibbs made a motion that the City of Edgewater donate $20.00 to the Red Cross, seconded by Councilman Fuller and CARRIED. COUNcilman Gibbs discussed the proposed City Dock. The Council will receive the costs within a week from Mr. Green on a 100 Ft. Dock at the foot of Ocean Ave. There being no further business Councilman Fuller moved we do now adjourn, seconded by Councilman Haughton and by vote CARRIED. Time: 8:25 P.M. Mayor-Councilman ~.."
